How can a zombie themed piece be so cute and make me smile? The cartoony details really sell this piece. Not a zombie fan but I like this.

She's such a little cutie she can get the blood rushing (yanno what aym sayin') even when they've lost all the blood in their bodies!! Good work with just everything in here, awesome job capturing a decrepit and neglected feel to everything, not just with the unkempt field but the growth in the sidewalk as well and the cracks too as if the roots are taking over it's all so freaking fantastically immersive and dynamic! And the different variations ont he zombies are fantastic, my favorite's definitely Mr. T-Virus in the back, he reminds me of that dude in Metal Slug who shows up every game to fight you with his gatling gun "COME ON BOY!" that guy! And you better believe I of all people caught the streetsign joke hahahaha!

You have to remember sooooooo much when you do post-apocalypse art!
Grass growing, earthquakes, rust, dust, mold, animal damage, oh glob the list is endless.
It's so satisfying when someone notices that stuff tho XD

And of course you're gonna notice a movie reference XD
You're like the frickin' king of homages!
Did you notice the address on the mailbox though c:

BLARGEN69 In reply to Lumdrop [2014-04-23 02:30:39 +0000 UTC]

You also really gotta handle things well to make the extensive and necessary details to capture the look of neglect but make it not too different from the style of the characters, lots of people have the issue of their character designs glaringly clashing with their backgrounds, but you don't have that problem thankfully.

Omg I am so ashamed that I didn't catch that address on the mailbox hahahaha!!! If it were me I'd have probably gone with 80085 myself. Actually I dunno if many people notice but I try to put a Manta Ray Girl or the number '69' somewhere in most every big drawing I ever make, if you look at my fighting game poster drawing for example go take a look at the coin slots on the arcade cabinet at the very bottom...

Sometimes that's not exactly a happy thing though.

Normally I wouldn't have strong black lines even in comics because I thought it isn't good but when I saw your work, I've thought to myself that I was wrong coz this one really came out great! and I realized that I could have the black lines as long as I vary the thickness of them.(the farther it is,the thinner the line!)Β

I like how you've drawn her, not minding the zombies around. It's kinda great idea! The lighting is great too. and I love the cartoony look of this. Really a job well done mate! Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lumdrop In reply to artistmyx [2014-02-11 19:56:44 +0000 UTC]

Before I went digital I used to use nib pens a lot, so varying line thickness is kinda a thing for me ^^
I never thought I'd change someone's opinion on an artistic thing though.
This is like a milestone for me if you don't mind me saying so ^^

I've actually been trying to experiment with colored outlines a lot too though, but I just keep going back to black.

*Could make a horrible joke here*
