the sketch is about 6 months old; I began to draw when quite depressed... it's "entertaining" to draw whatever you feel now I think of it xDI wanted to try some experiment with black, but finally got too lazy to really finish what I wanted with the wings... it was really fun to play with black, I may use more india ink next time
Not sure about the anatomy either, it may look weird in fact O_="
it was supposed to be totally black and white pic, then I thought 2 light colors isn't that bad
oh and for the very few of you who care, it's supposed to be my original character Ethan, but it could really be anyone else...
For those who don't know, Ethan is a swordman who travel around the world to gather crystals and save the world! (hehe cliché) He is originally the son of the fire country crystal guardian but... I won't tell anything more cause laziness
Why is Ethan crying? Did he lose som eone important to him?
Water color + 2B to 8B pencils (for some few shadow/sketch cause I'm too bad with watercolors to shadow properly with it XP)

Twitter is basically like facebook status where you simply write short entries and post links to share with your friends O: i like it there because i can spam my thoughts 24/7 and people still wont complain

J'aime beaucoup la lumière et la façon dont une partie du personnage se mélange au fond. Ça fait bien ressortir le côté tragique, je trouve. Et c'est amplement suffisant pour laisser passer les défauts. Dans mon cas, c'est pas ce qui me frappe en premier comme je vois plutôt les jeux de lumière.
Donc je dis : très réussi!

En fait dans l'idéal, ce que je pensais faire aurait été encore de plus "immerger" le personnage dans le noir (genre encore un peu plus les ailes, les avant-bras, les abdos...) pour que la transition avec la lumière soit plus progressive quoi! mais bon, une sorte de coup de flemme et manque d'assurance ont fait que j'ai préféré m'arrêter là.

Justement, je pense que c'est mieux d'avoir arrêté là. J'explique (ne prends pas peur, s'il-te-plaît XD) : pour l'instant, il n'y que les jambes qui soient aspirées par le fond, rien d'autre. Il est en train de sombrer petit à petit, et soit le reste va suivre, soit il va plutôt chercher à lutter et à rester dans la lumière. C'est justement parce que ce n'est qu'un début qu'on ne sait pas trop ce qui va lui arriver. C'est mieux d'entretenir le mystère et de ne pas imposer une vision. Chacun peut imaginer ce qu'il veut.

I'd have to agree with you on anatomy coming out a little odd. I think it's the arms really. Shoulders I think should be hunched up more, and the forearms shortened? I don't really know. Proportions and anatomy are my own weak spots...
Love the texture of this piece, and it does have a feeling of... failure? No, I'm not saying the piece is a failure, but that looking at it makes you think of failure... okay... this is sounding weird. ^_^
I think adding in the other light colors worked out fine for the picture in the end. Maybe have one bright color sometime in a painting similar to this? Make an object you want to stand out a bright color and everything else dull and drab looking? Just an idea...
