I think this kind of exercice should be done by any artist at least once!
Well, I've done it like 10 years ago, during my stketching sessions when procrastinating during ethic class I think (lol). Some times ago, while struggling with some angles in my semi-realistic style, I was thinking about doing this exercice again.

This is the sketch version
Next time I'll bring to you the "anime-style" version, and the "semi-realism" version. Well the two main style of mine (I think)
I'll use this same sketch as a base.

If you want to do this exercice too, here are some instructions:
  1-pre-requisite: you have to know the main technique of drawing a basic face (the center one) (Face tutorial ), whatever style you use: where is the eyes, the nose etc... You have to know your proportions (well, according to your style its proportions anyway, you know chibis and kids have bigger eyes etc). trace your constructions lines too!
  2-I highly suggest you to draw a sphere as a construction line: it'll help with angles! you can see it in orange and some key line I use in purple to help me visualize the angle of the head...
  3-then starting from the center face, draw left and right
for the upper and lower part, I suggest to draw the left one first (simple rotation angle to the left). It'll help you find the good proportions to draw the center (heads up center or head down center == often the trickiest). the right one might be difficult for some, that's a kind of 3/4 angle...

oh and I like green when sketching... cause I don't use this color that much anyway so I can always see my sketch after painting ^^"*

UPDATE: 08/09: updated the color to be more consistent with other face tutorials I've made. an other angle added (look even higher)

I might update with even more angles in the future, for fun ^^
