Description
I finally got another image out after being MIA for a while. This one started from me messing around in Paint Tool Sai with some lineart. Lineart came out pretty decent but the painting came out like crap. I'm not used to Sais blendy brushes but since I liked the lineart I decided to import into photoshop and paint it in there! I think it came out pretty good considering I'm somewhat out of practice. Haven't cracked open an art book in a while....Anyways, leave a comment! I'm interested to know what you guys think of it!

I like the tattoos and the colour scheme. Gives quite a unique perspective on the merpeople.

I never really thought about it from that aspect but true!

A lot of folk do the lineart only in Sai and transfer it to a different program to paint. And oh my goodness, your lines and paint came out beautifully!

Thank you and yes I can see why lol. Sai actually looks really fun to paint in. Coming from photoshop its very awkward to get used to sai, but my goodness....Sai's lineart capabilities destroys photoshops.

Absolutely. You can work with the lines so much better than with many programs and several of the artists I watch use it purely for that. XD
I keep forgetting what kind of painting Sai is supposed to be imitating. Is it supposed to be watercolor like? Always found that medium hard to control.

Agreed. Sai is now my preferred program for doing lineart. I'd like to get better at using Sai to paint though just to keep from having to hop between programs.
The acrylics brush (aka water color) is probably it. I tried to paint and the blending just got out of control lol. Though to be fair to Sai, water color in traditional is also hard to control.

That'd make things easier. Good luck with learning about it! People can make some really amazing things with how it paints.
That's what always happened to me, everything is so muddy and mis-blended by the end of it. Both with Sai and the watercolor painting itself.
It's such a good feeling when you can finally make it do what you want though. Fighting with Sai is probably going to be so worth it.
