Description
Hi all! I still have so many photographs to share with you guys from my trip in September. I am kinda uploading all randomly rather than in order...But here is a photo that I took at the Vancouver Aquarium. I remember going here for school trips and with family a lot when I was younger. So much has changed there since then. I was disappointed there was no orca but I realize they do have to release the animals after a certain amount of time once they are able to be.
Anyways.. I got a lot of neat photos of Jelly Fish which I just love how they turned out
Info on the Northern Seal Nettle:
This jelly's bell can be white to dark purple/red, with dark lines radiating from the top of the bell. The species derives its name from the Greek words melas and aster, which translates to "black star" in reference to the pattern on its bell.
Bell can be up to 12 inches wide; tentacles can extend as long as 10 feet on giant specimens. The number of tentacles is up to 24 (8 per octant)
Habitat: Open water of temperate northern Pacific Ocean, Arctic Ocean and especially the Bering Sea. Pollock can be the food of Chrysaora melanaster, it also can be the competitor for potentially limited prey sources
