Description
Named after the Greek archer-god, the Apollo is one of the newest EarthForce ships built after their joining to the Interstellar Alliance. The Apollo was supposed to be superior in every way to the Sagittarius missile cruiser. It uses some of the best technologies that both Alliances could offer. Faster and more durable than its predecessor, the Apollo’s main focus is upon the advanced missile systems that can hurl volleys of deadly EA missiles at a much greater rate. With its Fairspace Industries jump drive, the Apollo can appear tactically wherever its deadly hailstorm of warheads are needed without having to rely too much on fleet support. It can deliver a massive onslaught of offensive power, but still requires some escort craft or patrolling gunboats to keep it from being overwhelmed by smaller ships able to get around its field of fire.It has the same number of missile racks, six of which are the usual Class-L types while the other two are of the advanced sort seen on the Warlock. The reload rack is capable of providing advanced missiles to this rack, though of course any missile limited to such a rack cannot be loaded into a Class-L rack. Though some feel the Apollo should have more missile racks, this was a design decision made as a result of previous battle data. The Sagittarius had proved somewhat vulnerable to fighters, so the EA designers provided additional defensive guns (as well as an advanced interceptor grid) instead of two more missile racks, which they could have installed at the expense of particle beams.
The Apollo Advanced Missile Cruiser had the following armament:
-Two Class-LH Missile Racks.
-Six Class-L Missile Racks.
-Six Interceptors Mark-II.
-Six Particle Beam Turrets.
Additionally four shuttles could be stored in the hangar bay.
The Apollo Class Advanced Missile Cruiser is from Babylon 5, it appears Babylon 5 Wars and A Call to Arms, alongside some RPG books.
