I'm not much of a writer, but I do appreciate writing into which effort was placed and research was done. So, I guess you could say that I appreciate well-informed writing over most other types. >^.-.^<

There is nothing more annoying and laughable than when you read a supposedly non-fiction story where something happens that would be physically impossible in real life, or just something stupid like, a Genie who doesn't believe in fairytales.

I agree! I'm always afraid that if I don't research, people will point out my mistakes in a rude way. Then, my mean side will come out and tell them to get a life.
Anyway, I know I personally love good fanfictions, when they have been properly researched.

Cool stamp. Personally, all I ask is that writers do research at some point before the piece is declared finished. If you try to do every last bit of research before you sit down to write something, you'll never write it.
But with your primary point, I agree.

My own experience in writing says that you have to call a halt to he researching at some point, or yeah, you never start.
Learn a lot of cool things? Yes.
Start? No.
