Description UGHHHHH why can't I ever take a decent digital photograph of anything? I'm really sorry this is blurred guys. I took so many too, and this was the least blurry. I need a tripod or a slave or something. Maybe I'll do a retake this summer if I can. The full, but blurred image is in my scraps section here - [link]

Centaur lady has saggy boobs D:

For our Drawing Final we had to do a drawing that was roughly 50x70 inches that included at least four figures, human or animal, and one of them had to be ourselves. Remember the toga photo? Yeah...
I really really really reeeeally wanted a sphinx in there (possibly flirting with the centaur) but I couldn't figure out how to put it in. Poo.

Vine and bulletin charcoal, white pastel, white conte on warm grey Tiziano paper.

Looks great for a 'blurry photo'. *thumbs up*
Invest into a scanner if you can, there's really cheap ones now and it'll save your life.

Great job! *claps*

So classical! It rocks. The hues are nicely warm. Though with a faun there, you really don't need anyone else to flirt with anyone else... he'll fill in for everyone.

I especially like the Minotaur. Great job!

Beautiful work! It looks like it was drawn with pencils, because of the smooth feel overall. LOL, maybe they are saggy because she doesn't wear any bras?
Again, great work. I would be proud if I produce something like that. ^ ^

Oh i just love this, even if your digital did get it a little blurry. I love that landscape. *looks at all of the little details in the grass and rocks*
I think the centaur is my favorite. The horse part of her body is drawn very well.

Lauren, I think this quite wonderful - please tell us if your grade was as fabulous as it should be! I love the way you have grouped the figures, each cluster making a composition within the larger composition! I think your figures are beautifully drawn as well as expressive! I am so happy for you - what a wonderful year you must have had to culminate in this wonderful work!

This must have taken an age to do! You have such a talent for mythical scenes such as this, you NEED to write and illustrate your own book one day, I swear it'd be as famous an epic as LotR (and I could be all "hey, I know that girl *proud*" ahahaha)
Everyone of the creatures is drawn so perfectly, and the background looks like somewhere real yet fantastical. Nice job of fitting yourself in there too!

I can't believe this is done in charcoal! I don't use that very often at all unless forced, but god it's such a smudgey bastard to work with, so how you got tiny, pencil like details into this I will never know!

Damn you and your talent!

I know the feeling! Had the same problem but i got me a tripod. You should try to look in those big electro and home applyances stores. We got a chain of stores here called "media markt", they had tripods starting from 6 EURO (a cute little mini tripod of 16 cm high) up to ones of a few hundred EURO. I got me a decend and sturdy tripod for 28,99EURO, it has a max hight of around 1m60. And can only tilt the camera up and down not sidewayse. But if i attach the camera 90° turned you can tilte it sideways but not up and down. Anyway's beautifull drawing.

Wow, this is a really incredible piece. What are the four lines though? Did you draw it on four seperate pieces of paper tacked together? Just wondering.
But seriously, the shading and realism is absolutely incredible.

What a lovely Greco-Roman minotaur you have going there! My favourite bit is actually your gryphon, who reminds me very strongly of the Baroque pictures of monstrosities rather than what griffons have become today. Great self-portrait too. You must be very proud. Any chance of a photo in context (say against a chair or wall) so we can get the full impact of the large size? I assume you're going to mount and frame it?

I have a trick that might work. I sometimes have trouble reproducing my peices too. I found that if I took a magazine page with big black and white text on it, and placed it directly next to my picture in the shot, the camera had alot easier time focusing. (assuming the camera is digital)
I can't explain it, but it seems to do the trick like magic every time.
i like what you've done here. the sepia tone looks good on it. it's all like... atmosphery.

I've used similar tricks with smaller pieces, but this thing is around 60x60 inches, and well, most of the working walls are white, so I wasn't given much to work with XD

I know you hate the quality of the photograph... but this piece is still absolutely beautiful! And it's not too blurry. The blurryness adds to that fantastical atmosphere of the whole thing. The minotaur is my favourite... it's nice to think that a creature like that can have enough heart to not tear those birds apart. ^^
The faun in the background is a nice touch, too... it sort of gives the piece a different dimension and focus.

Griffin anatomyerfection. ^^

Good job! Definite fav from moi!
