When I saw this, the first thing that popped into my mind was a poem I read years ago: 'Abandoned Farmhouse'. It always gave me an odd feeling, and that came back when I looked at this.
He was a big man, says the size of his shoes
On a pile of broken dishes by the house;
A tall man too, says the length of the bed
In an upstairs room; and a good, God-fearing man,
Says the Bible with a broken back
On the floor below a window, bright with sun;
But not a man for farming, say the fields
Cluttered on boulders and a leaky barn.
A woman lived with him, says the bedroom wall
Papered with lilacs and the kitchen shelves
Covered with oilcloth, and they had a child
Says the sandbox made from a tractor tire.
Money was scarce, say the jars of plum preserves
And canned tomatoes sealed in the cellar-hole,
And the winters cold, say the rags in the window-frames.
It was lonely here, says the narrow country road.
Something went wrong, says the empty house
In the weed-choked yard. Stones in the fields
Say he was not a farmer; the still-sealed jars
In the cellar say she left in a nervous haste.
And the child? Its toys were strewn in the yard
Like branches after a storm β a rubber cow,
A rusty tractor and a broken plow,
A doll in overalls. Something went wrong, they say.

Nice work, it gives me inspiration.

That is really nice work, especially since you said you don't normally "paint".
It kinda looks like the house threw up the furniture.

Wow this piece came out great, with composition, color, tone and strokes. I don't see where you'd have problems with landscapes. Great piece.

Not a painter, pfft. You've got a good strong hold on colour theory and restraint. In places the colours are almost warm and buttery (or maybe that's just because you used oils), in contrast to the turmoil in the yard... Nice jaggedy fence in front of the straight-edged buildings too.
Bah, I'm not good at intelligent critique or stating why I like something, this just gives you one of those gut feelings. You just know it's a "good painting" when you see it.

Wow! I don't know what you're talking about...you can paint!
(and my mother who is sitting behind me says it's good too. haha)
I imagine some sort of werewolf story line behind this painting. I'm not sure why...but that's the first thing that popped into my head.

This is just lovely and so well lit. I know some people who would love this.... specifically my still life painting teacher. He loves working with oils.
As do I, but I'm not too good with them.
Your shadows and highlights look superb... very nice cool colours that really make the snow subtley more snowier. ^^ Great job.
It looks like the farmhouse barfed up its insides almost... but I'm sure someone threw everything out in a fit of rage.

Very nice work. You may claim to not be a painter, but it looks like you've at least demonstrated very good control of tones and thickness. It's well drawn and consistant. I like the lightness of the strokes. Almost reminds me of a watered down Bob Ross painting (when I say watered down, I mean the lightness of the colors - his tended to be a bit more bold).

I love how layered the paint looks, it has such a richness to it. I also appreciate how sensitive you are to the way architecture should be lit. Your placement of light and dark are so simple, but effective and even dramatic in their own right.
I love when you draw and paint scenes like this. You really get the essence of rural America in a way that's not overly cynical or nicey-nice. It definitely has an ambiance of course, but in an honest sort of way.
Ima stop before I start rambling. Regardless, very nice :3

"SHIT WENT DOWN AT THE FARM HOUSE."
Oh god that just made me lol so hard XD
I think you paint better than you give yourself credit for x3 You really did a good job creating depth in the painting, and it really looks like I was just making my merry way past this farm house and I look over and theres chairs and the table thrown outside into the snow... really makes you wonder what really happened. And its such a quiet painting too. There arent any crazy contrasty colors that scream out at you, so it really is kinda creepy cause you expect to see just the house and everythings all nice and well BUT UH-OH SOMEONE IS THROWING FURNITURE THATS NOT NORMAL WTF.
So yea. I like this XD;

Looks like some serious shiz took place. I like the way you've made the fence posts so leany, it gives the foreground a neat feel to it.
