No, I just used a default brush, and varied the flow/opacity/hardness of it (Flow-Op is adjustable on the top bar and hardness is adjustable by right clicking anywhere on the workspace when you have the brush tool selected). Just try messing around with it to get different textures, because in the end its really a blend of everything. So just play around with it and have fun.
