Description
Well, just got done playing the new Portal 2. I must say I was very, very, VERY impressed. I think I'm in love.In any case...I love to build things, especially with my hands. And the new boots caught my attention. I knew I didnt have the resources to make the spring heels (that would hold up 120 pounds and and hurt like a bitch), so I looked around and found the next best thing.
Yes those are real shoes.....Before and after to see if the shoe style would look good with the additions....It does. XD (that and it helps me not be so VERY short).
Might throw this into my 'future cosplay' folder....once I raise enough money for the base shoes.

I heard they are making Bionic Boots. They have almost the exact same set up and are /made/ for running and stuff. Though, I haven't seen them on the shelves quite yet. Expensive, no doubt! This, here, is a great way to cut hundreds of dollars. Thanks~!

what would i use for the white parts? I suppose painting the shoe would work, but what about the taller part?

Hey There! I love your design, and I am going to attempt it myself since this is the first template I have come across that doesn't require milling skills, and that looks realistic. Β The only question I really have is what did you use for the upper part of the boot? Β

Amazing. I would like to try making a pair, if that's ok...but could I ask you a few questions? Like what are the heels and leg sheath made of?...and what could I use as the base shoe??

The same principles can be applied to a male version. You would just need to find a base shoe that fits.

Based off your design, I'm going to be making a pair for a friend of mine.
The wreath hangers are ingenious, being that they are almost to the shape and thickness.
Some good ideas here, this build will be fun XD

I dont currently have commissions open, and havent done cosplay commissions in a while. They would be in the hundreds though. XD That much I can safely say.

Would wreath hangers really work?
I'm trying to make some for my cosplay for Sugoicon, and I have no idea what I should use for the springheels aside from acrylic, which would be a bitch to shape...

LyoNaka In reply to JokerxHarleyGraphics [2012-07-22 18:36:23 +0000 UTC]
They will work in terms of shaping well and looking 'real' (After some spray paint)....I dont suggest leaning back on them or putting any pressure on them while wearing them. But otherwise, it's a great alternative to a blacksmith.

Aww. I was wondering if they were really meant to actually support the averga 150 lb person. =/
Looks like I'll just be painting some boots...

I followed everything you've listed except the "wreath hangers" for the back bracing of the boot. Can explain those to me?
I agree, the Lady Gaga shoes are painful looking AND wildly expensive!

LyoNaka In reply to nomyai [2012-06-15 19:23:15 +0000 UTC]
Well I listed those because they were something I had left over and laying around from holiday season. Wreath hangers are strips of metal that hang over the door that you can attach a wreath to. If you unbend them/straighten them out. They are about the same size of the back braces. You just bend them to the right shape and attach them/paint them.
Of course this could also be done with foam or cardboard, but it wont have the same malleability and wont hold the right shape without some sort of excess support. It would also bend/break under pressure if the wearer were to lean backwards on it. So I think the wreath hangers seem like a good fit.
If you browse through the comments, lots of people have suggested different shoes that are a bit less expensive. You could also try high heels with a clear/see through heel.
