Description
I made this for sakuracon 2008, sorry for the delayI dont think anyone really realised the attention to detail that went into this, the jumpsuit is patterned exactly after the model from the game, all the seams, ageing, tears etc. are identical.
I also embroidered the apperture logos on the 2 shirts (worn by [link] and [link] )
photos by and (c) to eurobeat king
character (c) valve
For reference on how this costume was made check out:

How did you do the long-fall boots/frames? I'm thinking of cosplaying Chell myself. Do those support your weight or were you on your toes the whole time? You look great though!!! Like the real deal!!

Lambda2441 In reply to Zero-Saito [2012-02-14 18:19:53 +0000 UTC]
I made them out of the tips of old skis (and craft foam and stuff.) If you want more details, I linked to the tutorial I wrote about how I made the costume in the artist's comments, and let me know if there's anything missing there
They did not support my weight, I was walking on tip toe the whole convention! the worst part was actually not being able to bend my knees because of the harnesses under the jumpsuit that held the whole thing in place
Thanks very much!

Just curious, in your costume tutorial you mention that you used four yards of fabric. Do you happen to know what the width of the fabric that you used was?

Lambda2441 In reply to ShaeEldera [2012-01-07 02:59:46 +0000 UTC]
I wish I could tell you! I made the costume several years ago and any remnants of fabric I have left are in another state at my parent's house . I'm sorry, that would have been smart of me to include in the tutorial

It was a little heavy, not too bad since it's made of mostly plastic and foam.

DAMN good job! I just have one question: with her white undershirt that says Aperture laboratories, is there a design on the back of it like the orange jumpsuit? or is it blank? i'm trying to make the white undershirt LOL

On the costume from portal 2? I'm not sure since I made this just after the first game came out. I would recommend getting the model viewer (which is free if you own the game for PC) that's how I got the details right for this costume.

model viewer? ah, i have the steam account and portal 1 game T_T not portal 2 lol but how do u get/ use this model viewer?

Lambda2441 In reply to RAMENmanga-ka [2012-01-03 15:25:09 +0000 UTC]
I think you need to own portal 2 to see the models from it. To install it you'll go into your library on steam and there should be a drop down menu right next to the search bar that says "all games" by default, you can select "tools" and get a list of different tools based on the games you own. I think you just need the portal 2 authoring tools, but you may need source SDK as well.
But that may all be unnecessary If you scroll down to the very bottom of this [link] page, there's a bunch of images, one of them shows the back of her undershirt (with no logo)
Hope this is helpful!

Oh my frigging goggles! this is so awesome! ski's for leg springs? brilliant! how did you make the actual leg connections strong though? I think that in portal, the leg spring attachments are actually bolted into her bone or something so how did you get it to work in reality?
just curious ( i plan on making a portal based costume for Halloween this year.

Awww, thank you so much for the tutorials. I've been looking for an easy way to make a ASDPD (one that doesn't involve casting, I'm not nearly experienced enough for that) and this has been very helpful. When I finally do get it all made and figured out, I will certainly link you to photos of my costume. Thanks again!
