Description
...help me.Edit: Sigh. Yes, I've read the Guardians of Ga'hoole series. No, I don't like them. They aren't well written, they have glaring inaccuracies about avian biology, and they're targeted for people about fifteen years younger than I am. I am sorry! These owls have nothing to do with those ones.
Sorry, guys. Just not my thing.

I remember reading the Ga'hoole series when I was a wee lassie, I did like them, as only a child could. But the movie was amazing. Love the owls though.

I never thought they had anything to do with Ga'Hoole, never. For one there's a black and a white great horned owl, thus they are awesome. My favorite charcter by looks from Ga'Hoole is either Striga or Mist.

I just love the way you stylize things; your happy owls (like the grey one at the bottom of this page) are some of the cutest things I've ever seen.
I'm curious now, though.
Having been raised on Watership Down and The Jungle Book, I can't get interested in these new "animal books" targeted at children. Consequently, I haven't read enough of the Ga'Hoole series to notice the biological inaccuracies.
Could you enlighten me?

In a word? Pretty much everything. Owls flying long distances as if they were soaring birds, owls being agile and quick like falcons, owls flying like jet planes, owls carrying molten metal (the heat of which would ignite their feathers instantly), owls flying extensively in heavy rain, inaccurate terminology... about the only thing I liked is that they used the scientific names of the species here and there. And there's nothing to suggest how these skills or tools would have developed naturally, which I at least would have accepted. The rabbits in Watership Down were still normal rabbits.

Ok...I am not shure that I know how to link it to you, but If I can't figure it out then I will post your name, and the name of the art I used. You will get credit. And just so you know I am only copying your line work, thats all. I am not going to steal any of your characters, ok?. Mine is going to be red and gray black...But I still give you credit never the less.

lyosha In reply to Mangafang [2009-02-18 23:24:10 +0000 UTC]
Whoa! 'Copying line art' and 'using your line art as an example to follow' are two different things. I'll still give you permission, but I'd prefer a direct link rather than just my name. There are instructions in the Help and FAQ section of DeviantART, or any standard HTML tutorial will teach you how to link correctly.
I'm not concerned about 'stealing characters'. I just want people to know where the original art came from.

Ok I will check that out when I get ready to post. BTW When I make a ruff skech of your artwork it looks exsactly like your, so I redrew it. I am kind of excited with the bird I have skeched now. I hope you enjoy it. And instead of a feathered tail he has a devils tail. He looks really cool!

Wow, they look like they came out of an animated disney movie, the expressions are price less. The puff ball on the far left is to adorable for words and the jewlery on the owl on the top right is quite inovative. The whole thing has been done to a profesional degree.

Your drawings are absolutely wonderful, especially your little bat one. Ahem, and if you don't mind me saying, the Guardian of Ga'Hoole books aren't badly written at all. Plus, some of the newer books are focused more on teens and older people. Sorry, I'm just a big fan of the series. Anyway, you're owl drawings are really unique and lovely.^^
