Description
[Update] Finally the final artwork is here [link]Part 1 - [link]
Part 3 - [link]
It's teaser time! Following on the earlier The Making of Vanille [link] I have decided to show you guys (probably the last) teaser on the upcoming artwork.
In order to not spoil the surprise by showing everything, I have less saturate the color (including the original reference).
In this artwork, instead of directly copy 100%, I planned to put in some of my personal touch which based on my previous experience.
If you see my artwork and original version, I have made her lips wetter and glossier. I adjusted the shading and lighting on her teeth to make as if it were coated with enamel, 3D and shinier (the original looks plain flat white). I tried made her tongue look 3D-ier.
And the new feature which I never did for my previous artwork is skin texture!
Skin texturing is not that difficult with brush but over doing it will make the skin looks like orange or frog skin. In fact, the original version does look a bit like that if you take a closer look (in my opinion). So instead, I make the texture less apparent; giving a smooth skin appearance and not too plastic like.
The hair is still in progress and if you realize, I still haven't equip her with accessories (not to mention clothes as well
So when will my artwork finish?
A tough question... cause FFXIII US version is coming soon in few days time! I don't know if the game on my hand, I will delay it for long... I hope that this game will motivate me further to draw the art faster. And of course, with your continuous support too!
If I don't procrastinate, then it should be completed by early April 2010.
So till then, see ya!

Thanks! For skin, I usually take more time adjusting tone and shadows on face compare to body - about 2-3 weeks. Because to me, face feature is the most important. Once I screw up with it, I'll not have the mood to draw the rest. Glad that you liked my step to step process. I hope this can motivate you to draw better. And I believe sure you can do, so long you have the heart and efforts.

Ah is it? Which of the tips you used? Yeah, I have seen the Stella you have touched up. Good job! You have start darken up some areas, at least it looked more visible and pretty looking. I see you got some few steps closer towards perfection. Keep up the good work!

LOL, it's kinda difficult to convey with words. The border between shade and light must be visible (not feathered) to make it smooth and shiny. While if you put feathered border or the gradient is smooth, it will make generate the soft effect. Haha, told ya it's hard to describe with words... best to learn is to observe and make theory of your own. That's what I do during self-learning process. Thanks for anticipation by the way
No problem on the link, good stuffs must be shared to everyone
