they do, don't they. you have all the splendor of the woman's figure, but with a little help to counter act gravity
i don't know the name of the design, but my favorite dress style is the snow white dress. it's like an elongated empire bust with the skirt starting at the bottom of the ribs/waist. it shapes the upper body but gives a really nice free flow to the skirt and shapes the from of the legs really prettyly lol

i had a book as a kid about a mermaid who's little merbaby is accidentally taken by these fishermen (they return it and are rewarded for their good deed) and they had long tails with fins like these and i always liked them. they reminded me of what ariel's might look like, and voila
