Yeah, long story made short. A friend bought the lineart to Headmasters Issue #1. To me, this was one of the most iconic and memorable covers in Transformers... Pretty much ever. When he got the artwork, I asked him to scan in a hi-rez so I can color it. When it comes to Generation One, to me, it pretty much was the Marvel comic books. I went with the more cartoon colors with it, just because the idea of the Nebulans being green skinned with red and gold uniforms sorta harkened to me to Flash Gordon's soliders of Mongo, and I'm pretty much a dork when it comes to that.

I like this, what about the main Nebulan characters? Do you have some artwork of them? I'd like to see them with green skin!

No, the friend who got the lineart only got a hold of the covers.
I'll be honest though, the Headmasters miniseries was always one of my favorite parts of the entire TF history, and if I could ever get the clean original lineart, I would love to recolor the entire miniseries.

To be totally honest (and I know this is a longshot) I think it might just be possible to scan the pages of the Headmasters miniseries from the trade paperback and then using photoshop either render them in black and white or erase everything except the black outlines. I'm not sure how though, my photoshop skills are limited unfortunately.
I remember Gallen and Zarak and all the others, but I don't remember the name of Zarak's daughter whom Galen loved, if you had the opportunity to recolor her green like all the other people of Nebulous what colr would you make her hair, blonde, red, black, or a shade of green?

Certainly was memorable, used to have this one. The recent Sunstreaker head cover sort of reminded me of this though a bit grimmer. Lucky to actually have access to the lineart, seeing modern colors it looks pretty good.

As iconic as this cover is, would I be accurate in saying that this is also one of the most disturbing and gruesome images in Transformers history? I mean, he IS pulling off his own head!

Always a pleasure to see someone using classic lineart, and breathing a whole new life with it by new colours. Not merely updating what was once there, but giving a new spark to it.
