Yeah, yeah... I know. I'm a copycat. If you're not a Transformer fan, I'd stop reading... This will get nerdy. For those that don't know, MTMTE means "More than Meets the Eye", which was an character profile book from the old Dreamwave Transformers. (And hopefully IDW's future.)Here's a bit of history with the robot art there. It's drawn by Don Figueroa, from about four years ago just as he was picked up by Dreamwave before he got assigned to The War Within. I knew the boy was going to be going places and going fast, so I tagged him (read: begged) him to draw my namesake, while he still could. My old TF Persona was based on the old Takara Webdiver Jaguarian, which of course I naturally couldn't draw, because I sucked. (I suck a little less these days I hear.) The thing I had for the toy was that he was MINE. No one else had claimed him. He was a blank slate robot, from an obscure toyline, begging for an Americanized name and personality. Begging to be claimed. So I answered!
A couple years back when I moved from my parents house, I lost him during the move. I figured I'd take that opportunity to come up with a new visual for myself. But two years later I was never able to figure out a design that struck me as much as the original design did. One day, I was pointed to an online store that had him on sale, and I quickly got myself a new one. I had it replaced now, so I figured "Okay, once again, this is Mach Sabre." I'm happy with that.
Recently =beamer posted a bunch of entries from the Allspark MTMTE entires. [link] (The ever hawtsome ~scaleblade did one too that I colored.) And I thought they were pretty cool and I kinda wanted to do one. (Hey, who doesn't like role playing they're online persona, even as a bio?) But I'm not really part of the Allspark community. (Or any TF community these days.) And since I didn't really have time to sit down and draw the artwork for it (I still owe my writer three character designs due yesterday) I pretty much had to let the idea go for now.
Then going through some old archives, I came across the old piece that Don drew! I looked at it and thought "Hey, why not?" So I cracked out Photoshop and colored him. Wrote the bio and replicated a MTMTE background as close as I could. I'll probably get around to drawing Mach Sabre on my own one day, but for now... This is the offical and final version.

Unfortunately, I don't know it as well as I wish I did. I really liked the toys but unfortunately, never seen an episode. Shame too, because it really looked neat.

How did I get reference pictures? Well I didn't draw him, it was done by a Pre War Within Don Figueroa. I figured I should finally put that picture to use. But if I had drawn him, it wouldn't have been a problem since I own him!
Like I said, he had no name or no history and wasn't even an actual Transformer... So I figured I'd adopt him as my namesake, so to speak. Who's really gonna object?

Hye if you do redesign him in to Cheetor mind leaving the car mode red, If transtech was supposed to be a little G1 with some BM thrown in, I alwasy Primal as Prime and Cheetor as HotRod. So leaving the car red and the fur spotted would make that image perfect for me.

IDW's going to be releasing a TPB [TradePaperBack] & HC [HardCover] collection of the MTMTE books, so look for it soon: [ [link] 5th Title down] Though, you could probably pick up the MTMTE back issues at your local comic shop.

the MTMTE single issues are the most sought after practically in the world and i know for a fact my only local comic shop doesnt have any and wont, when they come up on ebay they end up go9ing for over £10, as for the graphic novels, i have most of the issues which would make the graphics not worth it as i would be doubling up, but thanxx for the info

So, buy the graphic novels or TPB [TradePaperBack] and sell your individual issues, you can complete the gaps and may make some money to boot.

never, i luv my individuals, besides since i'm a professtional illustrator, the individual comics make it easyer to flick through when someone asks for a strange commission or when i'm doing TF min-ups for magazines.

As a matter of fact, we both came up with our incarnations of our namesakes at around the same time. And we were involved with thesame online nonsense at that time too. So yes, there is a relation there, but more of the "brothers in arms" sort of thing, and not the "inspirational" way.
His was created from a TMII Cheetor and mine, like I mentioned was from the Webdiver toy, who's color schemes I've adopted.

Mach Saber thats GREAT! Im SO glad to see someone who knows OF WebDiver and see's them as Transtech too!!!
If you find it in your heart Could you "repaint" your Mach into TransTech Cheetor for me?!!? Cars fine but a little mod to his fur would be wonderful. Ever wonder if WebDiver was Takaras way of keeping Transtech alive.

I was interning at Fox at the time, but to my knowledge, Transtechs was a seperate concept from Webdiver. (Though I will be the first to admit the similarities are just that uncanny.)
As for coloring it like Cheetor, I will do it eventually, and even give him a proper color scheme that's more than just a fur modding. But it'll take some time here. I am in the midst of preparing to move out of state again, as well as the new issue of the comic, (as well as that Ricochet comic I've been putting off for far too long) so it'll take time. But it will be done. Promise.
