Description
Back in 2007, I drew G1 Megatron, which you can see here:Β machsabre.deviantart.com/art/Pβ¦
I did it over a weekend, and I remember going all out and having a lot of fun with it. And in the end, I remember loving how it turned out. (Still like it!) The other weekend, my Geologist was over, and I wasn't sleepy yet, so I decided to draw until I got tired. And I realized that the G1 Megatron was drawn right years ago. Eight years ago was the distance of time from the beginning of Generation One of the Transformers to Generation Two. So I thought since the timing lines up right, why not draw something similar, but with G2 Megatron instead? Going for a similar theme, with their cannons pointed at the viewer. (Like one of those art evolution pictures.)
I learned two things drawing this:
1. It's interesting to see how much my art has changed in the last eight years. I mean, I KNEW it had changed, but I thought it had changed in, you know... Different ways. I know my coloring got better, with lighting effects and shading. But I didn't realize just how confident I have gotten with digitally painting backgrounds. I started looking over the last pictures I've draw for the past couple of years, and sure enough... EVERY SINGLE ONE where there's a background, it's digitally produced. I never realized how confident I've gotten with it.
2. I really like G2 Megatron. I mean, I've always liked him, but I never realized just how dynamic his body could be.
Hope you like.

Interesting, will you be doing any members of the steeljaw gang?

I swear, the only way they'll get me to buy that new Combiner Wars Megatron is if they paint him up like this.

You know, I was actually going back and forth between coloring him in the classic green and purple (is that classic now?) or doing the Heroes color schemes with Purple and Blue, and having "Megatron Rules!" labeled on his front.Β

That's pretty awesome.Β That toy just doesn't work for me normally.Β Too big to properly interact with any other Generations figures, and I was more hoping for something closer to his IDW design when it was first announced.
But it totally works in a G2 scheme, because the original G2 Megatron was taller than everyone and my kid brain automatically assumed that was supposed to be the case in-fiction too.

G2 Megs is still one of the best designs. It's not overthought like the RiD and Unicron Trilogy designs.

My favorite G1 (As strange as that sounds) Megatron!

Cool. I've always liked the idea of Megatron being a tank. Can't say I liked the camouflage paint job though.

My thoughts exactly. He should keep his old colors; he is too vain to be associated with EarthΒ camouflage.

Very cool work!Β
I stopped keeping up with the Transformers after the movie and a few of the episodes later.Β Mostly because of work and such.Β When the movies came out, I got turned off fast because of the humans plaguing the Transformers.Β
