Description So the same friend who got the Lineart to the Headmasters covers got a hold of some of the lineart to the interior art, drawn by Jose Delbo.

Now here's the thing. A lot of people over the last two decades always say that Deblo's art was horrible and I was one of them. But after I started coloring some of the older pages... I realized it may have just been the bad coloring. And this was during the midst of his run, when he didn't have many animation models to go off of, and he had to design the artwork from the toys themselves. And I think it turned out great.

Obviously, I'm not sure if he would be able to compete with artists like Guido Guidi or Nick Roche, but he's got a defined style that tells a story effectively I think.

And while normally I would go for the toy color schemes with these guys, for Goldbug, I went for the Marvel color scheme, because... Well, the all gold colors just was too plain for me. It needed SOMETHING to break it up, and the Gold and Blue worked nicely.

Anyway, I hope you like it.

For G1 Prime to come apart like that can be scary.

How many times did Prime die in those old marvel books any how? I thought it was excessive. lol.

Only the once really - he died fighting Megatron at Autobot City in 2006 just like in the movie. All future-set stories beyond that point had Rodimus as leader with Optimus genuinely dead and gone.

He had a number of almost-deaths though:
He was blown up following the infamous computer game incident but his personality survived, encoded on a simple floppy disc (!) until being rebuilt as a powermaster.
He was destroyed whilst defeating Unicron (although his personality existed in both his own body and that of his partner HiQ and thus the Last Autobot restored him as an actionmaster from this secondary source).
He was consumed and then restored by the Swarm in the G2 comics so even though he was breifly physically destroyed he was technically not dead again.

Nice touch with Bumblebee's rubsign, I like how you did that!

Great colors all around. You're right, Delbo's lines look totally non-crappy here.

Originally I put a normal Autobot on there, but it just... Looked wrong to me. And I couldn't figure out why. Then I remembered that Goldbug's toy never had the Autobot Symbol. He had the rubsign. So I tried it, and it worked.

I'm kinda disappointed it hasn't been working into the fiction more often.

The Dreamwave comics came up with a good idea for the rubsigns... it would be interesting to see some other idea for them in future media.

Yeah, after I wrote that, I did a look at the TF Wiki, and saw that. (Also saw IDW use them too.) I guess I spoke out of my butt there.

When did IDW use them? (*doesn't remember that*)

Soundwave used it to get into the Gladiator rings. I don't have the issue, but it was in the Wiki's entry on Rubsigns.

The one thing I never understand is why they made characters like Fortress Maximus here normal size instead of their larger than life scale.

Probably because it would have been harder to have him interact with the other cast members when they're the size of his foot. To be honest, the most modest sized Fortress Maximus is the "real" Fort Max to me. It's the one I grew up with.
