You can smell it even when there are small fires around. We passed one near Revelstoke, BC. It was tiny and it was rainy but you could still smell it. Giant fires like this must be insane. : / The picture is pretty incredible though!

Yep, during my entire 12 hour drive from Montana to Oregon I expected the smoke / smell to improve. Β It only got worse
