Description Glacier National Park.
This was a half hour hike through dense brush from the road.  We setup here to shoot sunset looking toward the heart of the park.  The wind this day was fierce, 60mph sustained and gusting to 80mph.
I had positioned myself a couple meters from the shore and sat on the rocks.  Every minute or two I had to wipe off my camera and lens, the wind was blowing water constantly.  I had to wear waterproof clothes because the winds would produce water twisters on the lake which would drench us when they hit.  I will upload a photo of one later on.
Here the angle of the sun illuminates some of the dense mist blown into the air.  The light was just becoming interesting and I was firing away with my telephoto lens, when about 200 yards to my right suddenly appeared a black bear!
He was moving toward me at a good pace and we needed to get the hell out of there in a hurry.  The strong winds off the lake meant the bear didn't smell us and it would make for a bad encounter when it got closer.  Marc Adamus is damn tough, but even he was eager to get out of there before the bear got any closer.
The hike back to the road crossed over a hill where the winds just beat the crap out of us.  You could lay at a 45 degree angle into the wind without falling.  We got battered so bad I was getting sick to my stomach, and while taking a step on rocks a sudden gust blew my foot from under me and I twisted my ankle.  There I was feeling ill, sprained ankle, being followed by a bear, with granola bars in my bag...
We were met by a park ranger on bear patrol at the road, he had seen our cars and knew there were bears in the area.  The ranger wasn't too thrilled about us hanging out there and he checked Marc's commercial permit.  Next time we'll know to bring bear spray just in case   Awesome experience

Perhaps it does, perhaps we should be asking not why the bear is coming toward us, but what is it trying to get away from

What a great capture!
Sounds like you had quite an adventure, too! I've been fortunate enough to not have had to deal with such wind or bears in my visits to Glacier NP. But I've also never had the fortune to see a sunset there, either. I look forward to seeing the other photos from this day!

It's an awesome place.  Catching sunsets and sunrises there should be a priority
I'm amazed at the diversity of hiking trails too, I can't wait to go back there
