Personality: Muddy has a pretty laid-back disposition for a dog, which may be due in part to her basset hound heritage. She would probably rather take a nice nap or relax to music (or the sounds of nature) than socialise regularly with others. Her lonely and introverted nature makes her a little bit more like a cat in that regard. Despite this, she tends to get along with most others she meets, as long as those friends and acquaintances understand her need for solitude and privacy every now and again.

Muddy has very strong ties to nature. She hails from the Rocky Mountains, and as such, she tends to be drawn to the nostalgic smells, sights and sounds of mountain nature especially. She isn't one to prefer staying in one place, though -- on the contrary, she has an incurable case of wanderlust that keeps her wanting to travel and scope out new places and adventures. Her name, Muddy, derives in part from her love of nature, and the mud-like splotch on her back. It was also party derived from her "grounded", realistic way of thinking and dreaming; Muddy is, in fact, a huge thinker and daydreamer, but she doesn't let her ideals go too far beyond what's possible. Amusingly enough though, Muddy isn't quite so "muddy" as one would expect, since she does prefer to keep herself fairly clean (her handpaws and ears, in particular).

It's also worth noting that Muddy tends to have a bit of a philosophical air to her, which will mostly become apparent to anyone who manages to break past her outer shell and get her talking about things she enjoys. As well as writing and philosophy, Muddy tends to be interested in astronomy and psychology as well. She likes thinking about questions without simple answers, theorising often about things like dreams and mortality. She finds both the wide scope of the universe and her own home planet, Earth, amazing in even the most simplistic of ways. Muddy sometimes finds herself wishing she could fly, to better observe her planet the way birds and other winged creatures can.

It does go without saying that Muddy is a bit on the lazy side, burrowing so far into her own head at times that she has to remind herself often of her real-life obligations. She is also unfortunately very socially awkward, and has developed socially anxiety from it as a result. She tries her best to interact with others, but tends to be pretty awkward in her mannerisms. While she personally finds it awful and embarrassing, others will often find it cute or endearing in contrast. She's a quiet and painfully awkward nerd that others love to love, although she has trouble seeing herself in the same positive light. That being said, anyone who manages to gain Muddy's friendship and trust will likely have a loyal friend for life, as long as they're willing to give her the patience and understanding she needs (and she will reciprocate that right back!). She has the tendency to be very honest and blunt, although she tends to restrain her bluntness around more sensitive types. She will do her best to compensate for others, should a problem or conflict arise.

- Muddy has sensitive ears. Her sense of hearing, in fact, surpasses her sense of smell, which is actually hilariously bad in comparison (her nose, while sensitive, has a lot of trouble pinpointing the direction of where any smells are coming from). She indulges in both music and ordinary sounds often, both of which give her an unusually high sense of enjoyment, and actually help her to focus when she's thinking or writing.

- Her large ears also give her a sense of security. When shy or anxious, she'll sometimes hide part of her face behind an ear without always realising she's doing it -- and when it gets cold, she'll sometimes wrap her ears around her neck or face like a warm scarf. That said, she can be particular when it comes to others touching her ears, since she considers it a bit invasive. If she trusts you enough to handle her ears, she probably considers you a really good friend.

- Although generally laid-back, Muddy's personality can easily switch from calm to energetic when under the influence of caffeine, sugar, or highly stimulating smells in her environment. While in this state, in fact, she is likely to give in more to her canine instincts than she otherwise would be. She'll temporarily get great pleasure from running, jumping, dancing and playing, in a surprisingly puppy-like manner, but will later tire herself out so much that she'll immediately crash somewhere when the effects start to wear off.

While she'll avoid crowds or large groups, she will sometimes try to approach a smaller group of friends or just one friend in general (although the latter is something that makes her incredibly nervous).
