Cat: Queen Isis Shoulderbrand: None. Id number 140   maeix2.deviantart.com/art/Quee… Import: templado.deviantart.com/art/Sh…

Tube Sprint: templado.deviantart.com/art/Tu…

Jake clung on for dear life as the closely knitted pack of cats entered the tunnel. Compared to the darkness outside the light was blinding. They dashed through the opening shoulder to shoulder with the large clouded one that had been showing his teeth at them earlier.

Isis wasn't the least bit happy about the company. Her ears laid flat against her head. There were only two places to be if she wanted to get away from the other cats. Behind them...where she'd disappoint her beloved human, or out in front, which always seemed to please him for some reason.

So she put one paw before another as fast as she could.

Even so, she could clearly see at least one other shedu before her...his tail nearly swatting her in the face as they raced towards the other exit. Stupid mongrel, she thought, trying to push past him.

"Watch the wall, watch the wall," Jake cried out as they were pushed to the side by another competitor trying to pass them.

Isis's shoulder scraped against the rough concrete. She hissed unhappily, dropping back a few paces.

"Hey!" Jake called, settling for a few choice expletives as the other pair moved on. "Alright, if that's how you're gonna play this..." he growled.

Steering his cat sideways, there was a bend coming up that he'd be able to use. All he needed was to get them a little closer, just a little closer and they'd see that he wasn't just come hick coming to the big city for the first time thinking it was all magic and light and opportunities.

"Move it Issy," he urged the shedu beneath him. "Catch him!"

No refs used. Hmm, think I'm slowly getting the hang of this anatomy.

I love this kitty of yours and the relationship she's building with Jake! They're so cute together. This one's definitely the best anatomically (of the shedu cat images, though I'd say maeix2.deviantart.com/art/062-… is a close second!) so you're definitely getting the hang of them to me. Props for the three-quarter perspective too (I find it the most difficult), especially in Issy's face/head.

Good luck to Issy and Jake!

Thanks...she's turning out to be a great character to work with...and they make a good team...especially since half the time he gets them into trouble and the other half of the time he has to make sure that she doesn't

I was surprised that this perspective came out so good. Still have the most trouble with the hindquarters...just like the horses, but it's really interesting to work at something without proper pose references for a change...it's a lot more liberating than drawing horses...and a whole lot more fun than drawing humans.

A pair of troublemakers does keep things very interesting! I wonder what hijinks they'll get into next?

I can never shade hindquarters properly so, to me anyway, they always look off when I draw them. No references can really be liberating and it's so nice to worry less too... though one or two of my former art teachers are shaking their fists at me in my mind to use more references.

You never know...well, actually, knowing Jake, probably something crazy. Unlike Ary, Issi certainly doesn't seem to have as much of a 'This is probably not a good idea' gene...

Yup...hindquarters are horrid

I think, finding a balance between close refs, no refs and just details will be a good thing, should I ever get there.

I'm not sure if that makes them a better pair or a more terrifying one! I really can't shake the idea of Jake and Isis racing around and hitting a patch of ice though... into a snow bank with a puff of snowflakes and disgruntled sounds. Even though the weather here has improved, winter is still in my head. Ha!

You and me both, we will get there though, just need more practice. I mean, geez, look at the oldest deviations in either of our galleries and the practice, I think anyway, is certainly showing!

I'd go with 'more terrifying'. At least I can count on Ary to keep them out of the worst kinds of trouble

Ooo, I like that idea

I do that sometimes...and am scared remembering how great I thought they were at the time

That is true! It's good when one character is at least mildly responsible.

*grin* I had another terribly mischievous idea involving this pair... but I'm doodling it this weekend.

Oh, me too! On the one hand, it's kind of inspiring when I do notice improvement (because, let's face it, looking at more recent things, I have trouble seeing the same). On the other hand, what I thought was my best... er...

It helps keep the 'trouble' at a lower level certainly Not nearly as fun though.

Oh dear

Aye, that is very true indeed.
