Description Following on from:

The mare tossed her head wildly, her mane whipping around even without the wind, chewing on the bit relentlessly, as if trying to reduce it to it's basic components.

Her entire body, tense and sore already, sprung forward as the spurs dug into her sides once again. The thin hooves dug deep into the soft floor of the forest, sending up sprays of earth as they bore the pair between the trees.

Each pull on the reins sent schockwaves through her sensitive mouth. The leather of the bridle, chafing in one place, too loose in another, itched and rubbed uncomfortably against the mare's fine skin.

The loose fit of saddle and blanket weren't making things better either.

John had grabbed the first horse he could capture, the others having long since learnt to keep their distance. And he'd done much the same with the tack.

The bridle belonged to Maah and was custom made for that unruly and unsensitive horse. For SeaQueen it was a very bad fit indeed. The noseband flapped wildly around the small arabian muzzle. The bit sat so high in her mouth it was painful, with her having a much more elongated head than her stablemate.

The saddle on the other hand did belong to another one of the stable's arabs. But it had been set aside for repair and couldn't be considered fit to be used by anyone actually paying attention.

John didn't care. All that mattered was that he thought he'd finally found his quarry.

He spurred the horse on onwards, towards Ethereal Meadows.

Oh my gosh, this turned out lovely! Her expression is fabulous... though it's terrible what's being done to her. Evil, evil, Raven. And you did such a stunning job with her bridle!

On a partially related note as well, I've inked the wee comic page I mentioned as a follow up to our trade. I've debated showing you a sneak peek as it may be a few more weeks before I can colour it.

Thanls I think I've been staring at it for too long though I do like the bit

Yeah, he isn't a very nice guy, our Raven. Usually I enjoy writing bad guys, but he's just...well...eeek.
Hopefully that's come across in his earlier pieces as well Still, it does have one advantage, I am SO looking forward to seeing him paying for it all

ooooo. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. *bounces up and down excitedly* I'd a sneakpeak

Haha... I hate when that happens. Don't look at it for awhile and then come back, you'll see how lovely it is.

He does border on diabolical, doesn't he? Well, he has his place... all evil characters do. Hehe. The softie in me still wants to say "be gentle!"

I should offer more sneak peaks just for such an adorable reaction.

Yeah. That's why I usually don't post things until weeks after I finished them, but since I didn't have anything else it's just one of those things.

He's a right viscious little sod, that's what he is. Charesmatic evil makes for good characters, well, you know what I mean At least he isn't the type to start foaming at the mouth or go crazy, so I'll chalk those up to be his good points.

Sound like a fair trade to me

It takes me so long to finish a piece... by the time it's done, I just post it as a "final step" usually. Then I don't look at them again for a few months.

It is true. Hehe. And that's a hilarious selling point: "Evil bugger but at least he isn't rabid!"

Excellent.

You might want to invest in the protection package and the insurance first They can be a devious lot...

Oh dear, poor horse, I hope she isn't going to be hurt by her badly fitting tack.

Yeah, the Raven isn't a very nice guy, wether you're an animal or a human (or anything else for that matter).
For the moment, the tack is probably the least of her worries. But unless the character throws a curveball at me, I'm sure she'll be ok - though probably in need of some rest, recreation and the attention of a good vet/healer.

thanks for the too

I like the feel to this, really nice action and feeling of frustration and discomfort...

I'm glad those things come across, expressions of any kind are such a struggle for me. It's good to practice though

It is indeed. I love a good expressive face. Most of it is in the eyes...
