Someone in a Facebook group I'm apart of has classified their friend as a Level 1 Brony. I, myself, have used the terms 'Level 3' and 'Level 4' to describe myself as a fan in many instances and decided to make a full diagram charting the progression of fandom.Related content

i usually hover around level 2-3.
some of the things i really get into i get straight to level 5 though, except i've never been to a con due to my crippling lack of cash.
i feel like this needs another level though, or maybe an addendum to level 6, given the number of fandoms absolutely flooded with fans who literally directly contradict canon with their own fanon and refuse to be told it's not canon even when shown direct proof.
On that note, where do people fall into this when their fans of fanworks for a series but have literally no exposure to the actual series and even remain completely clueless that their is an original, canon source for it? Yes, I have seen this, many, many times.
I'm probably overanalyzing something that wasn't meant to be serious.

-showers you with Mage bucks so you can go to as many conventions as you desire- -except it isn't real currency and you will be kicked out when you try paying with badly drawn money-
I dunno, at that point they're kind of making their own thing. If they truly are fans of the original thing, wouldn't they have to acknowledge it's existence and canonically established bounds? I know some people bend canon or follow what was once speculation and was later proven to be non-canonical. For example, League of Legends completely revamped their lore to retcon the Institute of War out of existence, which obviously shit all over any role-plays or fan fics I had going, but we decide to just say "This fan fic/role-play is based before the lore overhaul".
I know what you're talking about! Hm. I mean I guess it depends. If they're just enjoying someone's art, regardless of source, it's enjoyment of the art and not the source material. Now, I was like that with Undertale until I was finally like, "GOD DAMN IT I NEED TO PLAY THIS" and then got plopped on the fandom scale. So I'd say they wouldn't be on the fandom scale or would be a 1-2 if they're simply enjoying someone's art/stories as is. Then again, this is an old graphic and probably needs some tweaking/updating. XD

the kind gesture is noted.
It's something i first found within Touhou Project's community, with the games unavailable outside of Japan until hilariously recently, fangames outnumbering official games by factors of little hundreds, and huge chunks of the "dedicated fanbase" only familiar with fancomics and memes videos, you end have have to convince people a canon even exists. Add in how inconsistent the canon is itself (different works portray characters with literally entirely different personalities based purely on that works' central protatonist's view of them, and that's just one example) and sorting canon from fanon quickly becomes hell. heck, 80% of the fandom is convinced there was a lore overhaul like that when in reality there wasn't (word of god states first 5 games are still canon until directly contradicted)
Then again, it's one of several places Undertale drew inspiration from, so it's fandom has some of the same symptoms. Hell, Undertale literally copy and pasted from Touhou Project's characters for some enemy patterns, one of the first things noticed was how Asriel's magic attacks are almost all copy/paste Marisa but easier.
I'm fine for enjoying fanworks for what they are, but when it gets to such an absurd state that people vehemently swear "this is no canon for this series!" I question what the heck is wrong with people.
But yeah, i figured this might be kind of old, still an interesting find. I've already forgotten how i stumbled across it.

I'd say I fluctuate between Level 3 and Level 5.
