Description
I got the idea for this one while watching the movie "Sweeney Todd Demon Barber of Fleet Street." It was weird for me seeing Alan Rickman in the movie, because I'm so used to him being Prof. Snape in Harry Potter. Then I started placing actors in the movie from other rolls they had played in my head (ie: Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix, and Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow) when a thought occurred to me: Imagine how much damage he could do if he had scissors for hands, like in Edward Scissorhands! Then I couldn't resist, and the rest is history.Unfortunately, the scissors didn't scan very well, and I'm not sure how to fix it!

You've brought two of the best Speilburg films and mashed them into the scariest protagonist trying to get revenge on a certain judge!

They're both Tim Burton films, and Sweeney Todd is the antagonist (Edward Scissorhands is a protagonist). I just liked the combination of both characters hurting people (whether accidentally or on purpose) combined into one character played by Johnny Depp. I'm very glad you liked it.

Actually, Sweeney Todd was the protangonist because he was the main character wanting revenge on the Judge (the antagonist). But yes, both are played by Johnny Depp and I thank you again for such a nice picture.

Hmmmm, I still see him as the antagonist because he did murder many people before the judge, but in all honesty, this is a point we could argue from now until the end of time. Either way, it's nice to see that there are people out there who are familiar with Johnny Depp's earlier work as well as his more recent work who can truly appreciate the irony of the portrait. Thank you again for your kind comments and love of Johnny Depp!

Haha, this is awesome!!
I totally thought of this as well when I watched it for the first time; When Mrs. Lovett sang her reprise of "Barber and His Wife" and the line came up "A proper artist with a knife", all I could think of was, well DUH, have you seen his ice sculptures?! XD

This is very similar to what I think would happen if he got a hold of Edward... Just look at that smirk. Whether or not he got the hands for himself, he would still use them to kill... D: If he ever met Edward, Edward would be in a whole heap of trouble... Poor Edward... I bet he got shaved... D':

So true, but can I get off the subject for a bit and ask whether or not you think Edward would bleed? I know in the movie he bled when he got cut, but remember, he is a robot underneath. Sweeney would have to practically saw his entire head off to get anywhere.

These are my friends.....
I just liked the idea of combining a character who loves to slash throat and kill people to another character who is a gentle soul and only hurts others by accident....that and the scissorhands are awesome!

Hmmm...not that I know of....something to shoot for I guess! The only other movie I can think of that Johnny Depp did with Tim Burton is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Do you know if there's more? Cuz that would be totally awesome to roll all of them into one!

how could you forget Ichabod?
yeah i think you'd find Ed Wood there. i didn't have no trouble finding it when i got it. but that was a few years a go. have a try. it's worth it just to see Johnny in a dress

magentafreak In reply to Lyca-Lay [2009-06-06 11:34:32 +0000 UTC]
Whoa wait.....dress? Holy crap, my niece failed to mention that one! Now I'm totally renting it the next time I'm at Blockbuster! And I'm sorry I forgot about Ichabod....I only saw the movie once and it was like 10 years ago....I had no idea that was Johnny Depp until like 5 years ago! In fact, until I saw Pirates of the Caribbean, I'd only seen Johnny Depp in What's Eating Gilbert Grape (like I said, I didn't know he was in Sleepy Hollow). Then once I saw Pirates, my friends were saying they liked Johnny Depp in that movie and I said, "Wait, he was in that movie?!" Yeah, total dumbass moment!

yeah...that's right a dress. and a nice fluffy angora sweater as well. ok i will forgive you as there are so many fans out there who hadn't seen him until pirates, which is probaly why i don't like those movies that much. but anyway you let me know when you see it and i'll try and work something out for this picture

omg....I just can't get over this promise of a dress! That's it, I'm going to rent it tomorrow, no excuses! And it's not that I hadn't seen Johnny Depp before Pirates, I just wasn't real familiar with him. The funniest part was that I had no idea he was in that movie! We were leaving the theater and I was going on about how great Jack Sparrow was, then that's when my friends said, "Yeah, Johnny Depp was great" and I said, "Johnny Depp was in that movie?" They all just looked at me and said, "Yeah, who do you think played your precious Jack Sparrow?"

hilarious. speaking of which. if you want more of him in a dress i'd check out a film called 'before night falls' he goes total drag act in that one!
i'm not against people getting into him from watching pirates. but it just annoys me to think that that is all he's know for because some people can't be bothered doing abit of research.

At one point I decided I was going to see every single movie he'd ever been in....but I made that same promise for Leonardo DiCaprio over 10 years ago and I'm still working on him, so it's not that I won't eventually see these movies, it's just that I'm too lazy half the time. I am really looking forward to the release of "Public Enemies" this summer though, cuz not only is Mr. Depp in that as well, but it was filmed in Wisconsin! Woot! (I live in Wisconsin, and not that far from where they were filming!)

i'm collecting still from public enemies at the moment, thinking of doing a multi picture watercolour. have you read the book? that made me even more excited.
the worst film of Depp's to track down was by far 'the brave' took me six whole months and even then it was in a dvd exchange store. it's definately worth finding them all.
