Description The Shepard's have been many things to each other, lovers, friends, allies, husband and wife but to the general public they are most renown for their partnership on the battlefield keeping the galaxy safe. Using their intense skill and unbreakable partnership combined with their powerful biotics John Shepard and Liara T'Soni-Shepard are the true embodiment of modern day heroes and paragons. Their story has brought about many stories and vids, a huge fan following, reaching over 500 billion people of all species and they have even been refereed to by some as the ultimate modern day romance story.

Despite all this, both Shepard's rarely show themselves in public anymore, preferring the private life that they had fought so hard to achieve, raising their four daughters on the Asari homeworld of Thessia.

Seen here is John Shepard welding the N7 Valkyrie rifle, a weapon he grew into during the Reaper war and continued to use right up until his retirement from both the Alliance and the Spectre's. John Shepard still holds the record of the only Spectre to retire from the service with the blessing of the Council. Liara T'Soni-Shepard is seen welding dual M-4 Shuriken's, a weapon John Shepard introduced to her in 2183 during the start of the romance and fight against Saren. Liara retained the use of the M-4 favouring them over any other weapon and after the war she started to dual weld them. The pair after the war would rarely be seen apart and there were few recorded missions that John would undergo without Liara at his side.

This is a little attempt by me to improve my work in lighting and facial expressions. I had wanted to use the armour that Liara wears in ME3, but unfortunately I couldn't find a model with it that is available anymore, so I went with the next best thing, an outstanding mod by Sonyume. I did a fair amount of work in photoshop on this one, I had also wanted to do muzzle flashes but couldn't find out a tutorial for photoshop that allowed me to achieve this and look good.

I think this is a pretty big improvement on my previous work, although perhaps a tad dark. Let me you want you all think. I'm always open to feedback and comments.

I decided to give Shepard the N7 Valkyrie in this one as I love that gun, it made the purchase of the Omega DLC well worth it for me, I wasn't a huge fan of the running and fighting with little story that the DLC offered. This little gem made it well worth the money. I figured John would move away from the more mainline rifles (like the M-8 Avenger) after the war, being something of a hero he would probably be entitled to all sort of elite weaponry. I decided to give Liara the M-4 Shuriken as it's her default weapon and to be honest the other SMG's didn't look right.

Love the backstory! And great choice in weaponry! You can't beat the Valkyrie!
And great job with the expressions, they really look like they're about to kick some keister!

Yeah it's an awesome weapon, I use it all the time except for the London mission, I go for the particle rifle for that one, unlimited ammo does come in handy on that mission.

Thanks I try to give each image a back-story add's depth to the image, some are from my fan fictions and others are just made up to tell a good tale.

I am also working on the expressions, it's becoming easier showing an improvement in my work.

Unlimited ammo, definitely comes in handy during the London mission! Although, I tend to use the M-7 Lancer when I need a good gun with a rechargeable clip.

The back-stories make your pictures that much more enjoyable! And it really adds character to it!

I can really see improvement in your new renders! Your old ones were good, but the new ones just blow me away!

I've never used the M-7 I have it but never bothered to check it out, thanks for letting me know, I'll certainly be checking that one out in my next ME3 play through.

I have done some earlier renders using the G2F model in Daz, but I never really could figure out the lighting back then. The Mass Effect models and renders have given me the excuse to really have a good play around with the program and I am getting more and more comfortable with it. You're tutorial really did wonders for me, thanks for releasing it.

We'll one can only improve. So hopefully my next few renders will get even better.

The M-7 is pretty cool, I had to try it after hearing it was introduced shortly after the "First Contact War".
It's a lot like the Avenger, but much louder and all the more enjoyable!

I read and watch a lot of tutorials for Daz3D when I'm not messing around with the program.
Plus, I've been learning GIMP. So that kind of helps me with "touch ups" on my renders!

I'm eagerly awaiting your next renders!

I use photoshop myself. still learning how to touch-up work in it. I use it mainly for positioning the background and make some changes to the background and render so that it looks better, also blur the ends of the render so it works in better with the background. As I progress I seem to be always going that step further.

To be honest I always thought it was just a copy of the M-8 hence why I never tried it. I really need to start playing with different weapons. I kind of get stuck in my ways find a gun I like and stick with it. I need to expand my horizons a little and try out some of the other guns I haven't used yet.

Yup, same here! I tend to stick to the guns I enjoy. Like the N7 Crusader (that's my baby!) and the M-7 Lancer!

I've never used the N7 Crusader, I know it's included in the CE pack. Something I am hoping to get probably for Christmas.

Here's hoping you can get it soon!

very nice and liara looks pretty pissed off. really would never want to get on her bad side. but now that you've mentioned they have four kids I want to see them lol

Lol, yeah it was an idea off the top of my head really, now I like the idea that they have four kids, looks like a render for down the road.

As for her being pissed, I tried to get the look of determination on both their faces, though Shepard has the military background and also being male emotion doesn't show as much on his face as his asari wife's. But now you mention it, she does look pretty pissed.

Its always nice how information like that comes when writing when not initially planned.

They do look determined but seeing Liara like that would certainly make me not want to annoy her as I'd be worried she'd fling me across the room with biotics lol

Lol yeah. In all my fan fictions Shepard has biotics but only after being rebuilt by Cerberus. Before that he was only a solider. They make quite a team with their biotics and combined experience, having fought together for so long on the field they have learnt each other's moves and can anticipate what each other will do. Quite the duo.

In my games I always take Liara, her singularity is awesome. My favourite mission in ME2? You guessed it, LOTSB, it might be a DLC, but was worth any penny. Playing as an Adept, dual singularities which is awesome. Yeah I'm a huge Liara fan here, I'm a bit of a nut when it comes to those two. Probably a little too stuck in my ways to try out other pairings though I am considering running through with a FemShep just so I can romance Garrus. Though I am MShep all the way and always look a FemShep as John's little sister rather than an alternative version of him.

If they did make a movie I think that would be one way to do it, having FemShep as his little sister who makes a few brief appearances before ME3 movies. I read somewhere recently that if they do decided to go through with a movie or a few trilogies (I think a trilogy per game would work best) that Shep would be male. Not surprising when you look at the cover art, it wasn't until ME3 that a FemShep appeared on the cover clearly stating bioware intended for Shepard to be Male, it's also clear that Liara was meant to be the default romance when you look at it that she is the only character both genders can romance and the only character romancible in each game (provided you get the LOTSB DLC).

Yeah they make a great team in my opinion, a solid pair for any occasion.

I always tend to end up with Garrus or Kaidan, though in ME1 when I first played it I was really tempted to romance Liara.

Would be really nice if they had her as his sibling and I honestly don't mind if they went with Mshep as the main shepard like you said it was intended from the start for him to canonly be male. I think Garrus is the canon romance for femshep as it has the most work put into it.

Majestic-MSFC In reply to Padme4000 [2014-09-29 13:08:28 +0000 UTC]

I would agree, however they have been on and off about a movie for years now. They first approached the idea not long after ME1 was released.

They've however been pretty clear if and when they do a movie Shep will be a male and while they never said who he'll romance it's a safe bet that Liara will be the one, if Bioware has anything to say about it. If I ever do roll a femshep character Garrus would be in my sights, I've heard a lot of funny stories about that romance. lol

I have no idea why especially after ME3 when they did action filming for the trailers. It made me realise if they wanted to they could do some great things with the movie.

Yeah if bioware has any say in it I can see him romancing liara in the films. I think another thing that might be stopping them is how people have connected with the voice actors of the characters in the games and they might wonder how the fan base would react if they made bad choices.

There are definitely funny stories with romancing Garrus.

Majestic-MSFC In reply to Padme4000 [2014-10-01 00:48:26 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it's a risk more so than doing a Halo movie for example. A lot of people (myself included) are stuck in their ways on how Shepard in their eyes is. A movie Shepard no matter what they do will be different, even if the Shepard they go with is the same gender and romances the same character as the Shepard I or anyone else plays in the game.

It's a risk, but provided they stay true to bio-ware's vision on the games and do the best they can especially with casting and make it story driven, take their time and probably turn each game into a trilogy so they don't have to skimp out on things I think it would be a highly successful movie series. I don't relish the difficulty it would be for the producers and director but I think it's something worth doing and could easily rival Star Wars. We really don't have much in the sci-fi genre coming out these days. We have Trek and Wars which seem to be the main ones with little to rival them.

Padme4000 In reply to Majestic-MSFC [2014-10-02 01:03:04 +0000 UTC]

Definitely. That and everyone has their own idea of what actor they'd like to see in certain roles. I mean some of the voice actors should get parts as the characters in the movies for obvious reasons. Characters like turians etc they don't need to change the actors. Or Hackett, Anderson and the illusive man they'd be stupid to change the actors for them. But for characters like Shepard I bet everyone has an actor they love to play him.

Also another thing which might upset the fanbase. Who they would choose to die on Virmire. Or if they decided some died during the events in ME2 etc. I definitely would not envy the director or producers that would take that on their backs.

I agree that if they decided to keep the majority of the story in the movies like making each game a trilogy of movies that it would probably easily rival Star Wars. Though I hope if it ever does come to it that Bioware has a part in saying who gets the roles of the characters as they would know best who would suit the roles.

I agree, especially on the CGI aliens. No need to change them at all. Mainly characters like Joker (the actor is too old to play a young brash pilot), Shepard, Ashley, Liara etc. Oh and we can't forget Conrad Verner, the star of Mass Effect. lol

That would be tricking with Virmire. To be honest it could go either way. I am not attached to either Ashley or Kaiden. But I know there is a huge Kaiden following out there. In fact I did that mission last night, well this morning when I couldn't sleep again and poor Kaiden kicked the bucket again. As for ME2, obviously someone has to die, they couldn't make it believable for a movie and have no one die. Someone has to die right?

Yeah, from what I heard Bioware has said if a movie is to come around they want full control over it. A good decision as they own the IP and shouldn't allow some movie producer who know little to knowing about it call the shots. We saw how that turned out with the original Spider-man and X-men trilogies. Killing of characters faster than Spider-man could get through New York. lol

While I love Joker I do agree for him and those you listed that they would probably have to change them. Though Mark Meer does like dressing as Shepard. I do imagine they'd use him for the voices of the Vorcha like they did in game.

Yeah someone does have to die to make it more believable for a movie. Would be a shame but also more real. Also for a movie that would probably come across as a cheap move making everyone live. As everyone knows people die in those kind of situations.

That's good and I hope they stick to it if someone does decide to make a movie of the games. Yeah that bugged me. Though for X-Men I was none the wiser sadly. But there have been a lot of book/games made into movies that didn't stay true to the books.

While I like the harry potter movies to a degree some of the things they left out really bugged me. But from books to movies. Percy Jackson for me was the greatest of all disappointments. They sort of brought it back with the second film marginally. But the damage was already done. Major plots weren't in the film that made no sense to get rid of. Characters were written out of the story for the film but then brought into the second film.

But yeah I could go on as there are more that have disappointed when being converted into a movie.

Mark Meer is pretty awesome. He does great voice acting too. Someone suggested online that he would make a good Conrad Verner for a movie, a bit of humour having him annoy the movie John Shepard.

I never read the books for Percy Jackson so I suppose that is why I really enjoyed the movies. Problem with movie adaptations is they fairly stay faithful to the books, usually due to time restraints and having to cut large chunks of content from the script to fit in the 2 hour time budget. However there has been some terrible ones where everything is out of order. I never read the Potter books either, but then again I never really got into the movies either. I did watch them and they were ok movies, but never really anything special for me.

X-men was really screwed up, thankfully Future of Days and Past fixed a lot of them, while Xavier's return made no sense, I overlooked that just so I can enjoy the movie. I try not to let little things ruin my enjoyment of a movie. Much like in the JJ Abrams Trek, I don't like the Spock/Uhura relationship I think it weakens both characters especially Uhura as a strong female lead. But I don't let it get in the way of me enjoying the movies.

That would be bloody awesome having him play Conrad Verner. I really hope that if they do make a movie that they go with that now

If i don't think about the books I do love the percy jackson movies but when I think about the books I get disappointed. They are great films its just a shame they got rid of parts there were critical to the story and kept things in that weren't all that needed.

When the first book came out the school I was in decided to read the first book. So it kind of went on from there. Though I stopped reading when I got to the fifth book because a friend decided to ruin the ending for that book. So I didn't feel like reading it anymore. A few years later I read the rest of the books though.

I've preordered that film as I never got to see it in cinema. So I can't wait to watch it now

I never really liked Spock/Uhura while I do love the new star trek films that didn't feel right.

I agree, thankfully with Spock/Uhura it's something fairly easy to ignore.

If they do a Mass Effect movie, I so hope Conrad Verner is in it. He is a classic and a great character. I still hold out hope that he will be a squad member in ME4.

I got Future of Days and Past yesterday on the way home from Sydney. I plan to watch it tonight with the wife and kids. The kids haven't seen it so I think they'll love it. We try and do a movie night once a week, usually a Saturday night however since I got sick and a few other things we haven't really done that for a few months.
