Description So NS-Games slightly egged me to try doing some spritework after he made his own attempt at Leppicorn. I wasn't sure how well it would end up, but I gave it a fair shot.

Using a pair of official Pokémon sprites as a reference for both coloring method and scale, I came up with this. I don't think it's too bad, though somehow or another there's probably something that could use improvement. Regardless, it's Leppicorn as a "proper" Pokémon sprite.

And as you can see, I made both male and female versions, so finally there's a sort of reference to show exactly what differences there are.

EDIT: More egging, so I provide the sprites in their original scale. Keep in mind, this stuff is originating from MS Paint and formatted afterwards through Flash.

I *might* make Bunshee's sprites at a later time, but this was already pretty tricky. X3

And there's a reason I egged you on to do it. Because even though I made a sprite version of Leppicorn, you should really have the final say one what its sprite design should look like. And I figured attempting a sprite would help point you in the right direction for that. And in which case I may end up attempting one for Tygril to see if it's even possible.

Neat stuff! I think you did quite a good job with this.

It's okay, I suppose. Not really animated, or anything special like that.

You really have a bad habit of being overly-critical of your own work. You know that?

I'm partly aware.

But I'd be a bigger fool to claim that the things I make are excellent pieces of work.

I mean, if there's always going to be something better, why bother claiming that what I make is "good?"

That's an extremely defeatist attitude to take. If that's the case, then why bother trying at all? As you said, there'll always be something "bigger and better" out there.

Myself, I have a moderate ego when it comes to my stuff. Sometimes, something I made strikes me as being fantastic. Sometimes, I hate it and wish I'd never made it. I am my harshest critic and my biggest fan all in one, I suppose...

That's a very good point. But whatever, I suppose it's something to do. X3

Third Generation style! Love it! Not many appreciated that generation, but it did give us things like Berries and Double battles! And Zangoose...

Meh, I find the third and fourth generation sprites very similar, so I don't know how you can tell. I was actually using a pair of Black/White stationary sprites, which I'm guessing aren't how Black/White sprites *really* are. It's like combined sprite segments making the whole Pokémon. Kinda like how they made the mobile suits in "Gundam Battle Assault" 1&2. [link]

Anyway, I skipped the third generation entirely. There wasn't much that interested me in terms of the additions (I think Zangoose was the only Pokémon I even liked in that generation...), and the fact that there was no way to transfer your Pokémon from the previous games was a huge turn-off.

Maybe if it were zoomed out to 1:1, I'd have a better sense of scale.

Whoops on the hyperlink tag. Must've forgot to close it or something.

The sprite's OK, I think.

I wonder if Nintendo is watching this looking for ideas for the sixth generation?

From an American? I think that's taboo or something.

I guess you weren't the only one who found it tricky to make a Leppicorn sprite.

I couldn't even imagine a sprite of Tygril.
