The premier carrier platform for the UES Naval Force, the Sovereign class is a massive starship, a little over 2 kilometers in length and able to carry twice as many fighters as its smaller cousin, the Elysium class light carrier. Also unlike the Elysium class, the Sovereign carrier is much more equipped to operate closer to the front lines in fleet engagements and can offer impressive amounts of combat support. Although these ships would not necessarily engage enemy ships face to face, their dual tier 2 shock cannons and secondary weaponry immensely assists any fleet. The carrier is also equipped with heavy armor plating, increasing its durability substantially if enemy forces do decide to focus attention on disabling it. Although the Sovereign class is adept at combat, their primary role is to house and deploy fighters to oppose enemy fighters and swarm other ships, as well as the transportation of UES air and ground forces, which can be carried in very large quantities. A few Sovereign class carriers can transport an invasion force of several thousand soldiers, vehicles and aircraft, a formidable force to be reckoned with. As an added ability, the Sovereign class can not only house and deploy fighters but has moderate internal repair facilities to assist in their upkeep, giving fighters that become damaged during combat a way to repair and return to their duties. As one of the largest and vital ships in the UES, Sovereign class ships are held in high regard and will always be surrounded by several escort vessels to protect these valuable assets. Battlegroups with Sovereign carriers at their center will be filled with heavy frigates, destroyers and usually 2-4 heavy cruisers as principle offensive elements. The UDNF prefers to use Sovereign ships in planetary defense groups, invasion forces and heavy assault fleets. Commanding one of these ships is seen as a privilege in the Navy and a high level of respect is given to their commanding officers.
The UES utilizes a select few of these carriers in specialized roles throughout their territory. For example, the CDV Jollenbeck is distinguished for being the personal transport ship of UES Prime Minister Adele Costa and President Thomas Waters when they need to travel to other UES colonies. The Jollenbeck was able to evacuate all members of UES Parliament currently in system during the Exohuman's assault on Earth, and since then has been primarily based at the colony of Olympia where Parliament was relocated.

*Pictured above: Battlegroup Talos is a small group of ships focused around the Sovereign class carrier CDV Talos, a light patrol group stationed in the Sol System and part of the UDNF's 12th fleet. During the Exohuman assault on Earth on October 30th of 2345 the battlegroup was reinforced with 8 more frigates and 2 heavy cruisers and was tasked with defending the Jovian moon colonies as the attack progressed. The fighters deployed from the Talos put up an enormous defense, intercepting Exohuman ships, taking out secondary weapon batteries and hitting larger vessels with anti-ship missiles to lower their durability. The initial screening made it easier for the battlegroup to eliminate the enemy ships, as they were distracted from the constant fighter swarm, as a result the UES ships were able to destroy nearly twice their own numbers in Exohuman ships, and continued to defend the colonies until they were eventually recalled to Earth as the Sol System fleet took more and more casualties. By the next day when UES reinforcements had begun to arrive, battlegroup Talos had lost 3/4 of their forces and had been battered extensively, but the CDV Talos was among one of the survivors and continued to defend Earth after the Exohuman fleet retreated.
