Description
It's been too long since I took an evening to have some fun with a silly idea just to upload to DA so I worked this piece up tonight. Chip and Dale's outfits were both referenced from old photos of Dolemite aka Rudy Ray Moore. Gadget's outift was from some random fashion photo I found. The thing they're on is a 1969 Cadillac by way of roller skate.Related content

I haven't seen "Dolemite", so my first thought was Chip n Dale doing "Miami Vice" (TV-version) in the gutters of Basin City ("Sin City").

This is pretty cool. It's like a Film Noir style version of Chip and Dales Rescue Rangers.
Hell, I would have watched that. Would have been a nice direction to take ol Chip and Dale.

Man, when I was a kid, this was one of my all-time favorite cartoons. I love the work you've done here.

Love the color scheme and contrast; definitely has a 1960's vibe to it. I also love how Dale's shirt is once again obnoxious but somehow blends in.

Dale's costume reminds me of the "wild and crazy guys" skit from the old Saturday Night Live show. I think that was from the seventies too so that makes sense.

It's got a classic feel to the whole picture which just makes me love it more. I love the way you colored it, it just adds that much more to the piece. Excellent work!

Thanks! It's easier to look at a drawing with some softer color than a stark black and white picture, which this was when I first uploaded it.

Love the concept! Especially that Cadillac roller skate, haha.

You can! It just takes a digi tablet and lots of practice for getting used to it. It's like drawing with an alien dick at first.

Hmm. Aliens dicks are not my choice drawing utensil. It would be nice to get a tablet though.

New Rescue Ranger toons in general would be great, regardless of the studio or team behind it.

I love the concepts in the piece, but I don't think you have as sensitive a hand when you're drawing digitally as when you ink things. That would be my only real complaint with this, but if memory serves, it's because you haven't really done a lot of digital ink pieces.

I could have smoothed this out a lot more but I was more concerned about knocking it out in one sitting. I sorta like the rough, chunky look of working like this, but I do wish it wasn't so pixelly. Maybe different software would allow quicker work that looked more natural. Or using real ink, but only losers draw on paper these days!

Maybe try drawing your linework in Illustrator. A lot of artists seem to prefer it to Photoshop.
You should check out Dave Cook at idrawmonsers.com. He does all of his work in Illustrator and you'd never know.

Yeah I need to try that. It took me a few minutes just now to even find that program on the computer, that's how often I use it.
