brought to my attention a cartoon that Nickelodeon passed on producing into a full series. The 12 minute pilot for it can be seen on YouTube right here:[link]
As anyone with eyes can see, the show has a drop-dead gorgeous design aesthetic to it. It's pretty entertaining too, although it's hard to tell too much about a show from a short little pilot. Anyway the Baconator has been asking artists to participate in an art jam for this toon to bring more attention to it. I worked this pic up tonight.
The Modifyers was created by Lynne Naylor and Chris Reccardi.

Indeed. Good characters, great animation, evil (yet comical) villain, and all so original.
It does seem odd for Nick to simply pass a possible program. Maybe there were a few conflicts.

i like the idea of the cartoon overall, but about 2 nights ago I was scarred out of my wits my a british, adult cartoon called Salad Fingers, and the Baron in this just brought up that horrible fear again, which I guess is what villians should do, but not in this manner *shivers from memory*

From an interview I read by the creator, probably not. The creators are already looking at other avenues, like some kind of online flash-based series or something.

I like the dark perspective. It adds a boost to the show's surrealistic look.

This is pretty sweet. I love the way the Baron looks! He definitely has that Nosferatu feel, and that makes him very imposing. Looking at yours, I never would have expected him to be how he is in the short. I totally expected deadly serious evil.
The short was pretty great, too! I absolutely loved the music. It had a great '60s feel to it that was totally up my alley (the whole thing did, really). They need to make this show!

The music for the short was composed by the same guy who did the art design for it. His personal paintings are kickass as well. The Baron is just plain goofy, but if you're gonna portray someone as a badguy you gotta badass him up a little. You never saw Cobra Commander painted on the action figure card boxes with his pants around his ankles and crying, even though that's probably a more accurate representation of the cartoon character.

That's another reason I tried to stick relatively close to the show's designs in this drawing. I figured if my intention was to advertise the pilot it would be better to have a more-or-less faithful representation of the characters. Plus working flat and noodly is fun sometimes.

This is awesome! It has a Majora's Mask feel to it. The style looks dead on to artwork that came with the strategy guide.

I may have been partially inspired by that kind of art when I was coloring this. I drew the black lines and was at first going to leave it a black and white piece, but I decided to try putting color into it anyway. I'd remembered seeing how the heavy black with color style looked with some Nintendo and Capcom artwork and kinda liked it. Normally in my color work I like to use black as little as possible but I made an exception this time.

Thank you! For once I decided it would be best not to sex the characters up and just left them noodly and flat-ish like in the cartoon. It was fun to work that way.

The picture's cool and it looks interesting, kind of Halloween-y. I just watched the cartoon, for the most part. It was visually appealing but the story fell flat.

I think the story could use a little something extra too, but like I said in the description it's too hard to tell from just a short little pilot just where the show might have gone. It hints at there being some backstory to cover but I wonder who the other Modifyers might be, if it's a secret organization type thing. It can't just be Agent Xero and her robot I'm guessing.

The Baron is, as Hank Venture would put it, a "Dracula." Actually he's a dead ringer for Nosferatu. Nosferatu should be a villain in more cartoons.
