Description
Just finished this piece last night. It is made of polymer clay embellished with glass gems and bits of old jewelry and painted with acrylic and metallic paint.I love the netting over the green glass gem. I also like the contrast of the matte surface of the painted clay and the glass gems that look like droplets of water.

This is beautiful!! . I have a question, you add the glass gems before or after baking? Does something happen to them if you put them in the oven?

Thank you! I do add the glass gems and other items before baking. Polymer clay cures at such a low temperature that glass, metal, wood, etc are not harmed at all. Now some plastics?....well that's a different story!

Thanks for answering, I will try something out with glass gems and I was worried that something would happen
Loved all your art by the way

Polymer clay cures at such a low temp that glass is perfectly fine. I bake the glass right along with the clay with no problems.

This is beautiful. What is its size? Do you display it like a plate? I love how you were able to achieve different textures throughout(pebblish, leatherish, woodish, etc.), and how the smooth glass balls contrast with the clay. A definite fave!!

Thank you so much! The size is 2.5" x 3.5" and it can be displayed on a small easel. I just checked out your work and I love the faux cloisonne (sp?), it is so beautiful. I am going to have to check out the site you refer to, to see how it is done! Thanks again!
