Description
This sketchbook is covered in polymer clay with glass gems, an old Fossil watch and a cool little ceramic bead.I carved a turtle shell pattern then added the scutes and textured some of the background to look like a turtle's scaly skin. After the clay was cured and cooled, it was painted with acrylics and touched here and there with metallic wax.
It measures 9.75" x 11.25"

That's fantastic! You know the ring binder spine works really well with the turtle shell!! I keep imagining that if you press one of the gems, the front cover will start sliding around and reforming into something magical and arcane - cool!! Your work is so instantly recognisable. more please!

Thank you Yes, it is a watch. I took the band off and baked it right along with the clay.

Lovely !
was wondering since I'd love to buy one but not sure
is the polymer clay layer placed over the cardboard cover ?!
or is it made in a cover .. is it easy to break and how thick it is ?
I know our postal system can be rough with the packages

Thank you! Yes, I took the spiral off and placed the pages aside then covered the front and back cover in clay and decorated them. The clay wraps around the cover so that it grips and cannot come off. It is then baked right on the cover.
This is made from Super Sculpey, is very durable and does not break easily.
It is about 5mm thick at it's thinnest point.
This one is a birthday gift but I do have other smaller books for sale in my Etsy shop at [link]
I wrap them carefully in tissue and bubble wrap and have shipped them as far away as Australia (which is about as far away from me as you can get!)
