The last of the tutorials I drew when I first took over the manga class. It addresses not only how light effects shading, but different ways to shade. Experiment with them. Different sorts of shading can be useful in different situations.Related content

The word youre looking for is *Cell* Shading.
Not Manga shading.
and Manga isnt the only one that uses it.

The tutorial was made for my manga class; in context, I was referencing the shading the kids would see in manga, as well as how they would be utilizing the shading. 'Cell' shading is more often referred to when talking about animation, and in and of itself isn't a term every american kid is going to know off-hand, so I used an adjective they would know and understand right away.

Or, You could teach them a New term or word, so they can Learn something.
Because not everything NEW and EXCITING, is hard to grasp.
Now what if they didnt know what "Manga" was?
and again, why use manga if it isnt the only kind of drawing that uses it?

O.o; It's a manga class. I'd hope they knew what manga was. What I teach them in class goes beyond what's written on the page. I didn't make this sheet for everyone on dA, I made it for my class, and put it up here so they can find it should they lose their copy.

Oh how many times Ive heard that.
Again, using Cell shading instead of Manga shading, would have been the better Idea, To not confuse them later on.
Because when I grow up, I wish to be a teacher, and I really dont want to hear "Manga this, manga that."
