These are astounding! I really like the one of the far end right, looks like a "fusion" between an Exeggutor and a Vileplume, given the corpseflowers growing on it must make it smell like death Great job

That giant, leafless tree design will give me nightmares... But it would make a pretty neat regional variant for Exeggutor! Maybe a Grass/Dark variant or something of the sort.

Well the coconut tree form is now official thanks to the alola form trailer just announced today!

I've been trying to avoid spoilers for the new Gen, but I did come across the new Exeggutor! I really dig it, I think it's a great and really funny design. It did make me think of this old sheet, I aught to revisit it and expand on it some in light of the new form!

I can see titan arum, cephalotus follicularis, heliamphora, cobra lily, xanthorrea, Australian baobab, palm and a few other plants . Fantastic work, i like the fact you've made it so i can see the variations between the species. Also pleases me as an Australian to see at least 3 of our native plants there They all look so different yet clearly exeggutor. Best version I've seen so far. What plant is the one to the left of the trainer?

I completely missed your comment, sorry about that! I'm very happy you enjoy the designs! The design to the left of the trainer is entirely fictional, haha - it was an idea for a more... decorative Exeggutor? Perhaps a species that would be safer to own, as when I was working on these, I envisioned Exeggutor to be a risky investment in being a very large-bodied and intelligent Pokemon that is often underestimated due to being regarded as more plant than animal.

I will probably revisit these someday in the future - Exeggutor is a lot of fun to work with - and I will definitely take your suggestion into account when I do!

One suggestion with the dracaena (dragon tree) would be to make it so you can see the underside of the crown more as that is the most distinctive feature.

So, funny thing, those heads? They're like coconuts, or even just some kind of fruit. They periodically fall off and regrow.

manic-in-tricolour In reply to MaleticAnimeWatcher [2015-09-21 01:28:40 +0000 UTC]

Do you mean type of tree? The largest one in the back and to the left is based on a Baobab tree, beside it is a dragon tree, and the skinny one beside that is based on a palm tree. If you mean Pokemon type, they are all still grass / psychic!

I can definitely see Exeggutor suffer different forms like this. I think I'm loving the titanic one in the very back on the left side of the image. Also the designs are very Ghibli-esque to me, which is nice haha.

MetalReaper [2013-10-07 17:55:32 +0000 UTC]

This is what i wish they would do with pokemon, instead of making new generations, make new variations of the older pokemon, subspecies or regional differences

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

manic-in-tricolour In reply to MetalReaper [2013-10-10 04:47:28 +0000 UTC]

That would be really cool if they did that. I think they tried something similar to species variation with Arbok, with the markings under its hood changing a little each generation, but it is so small a change I couldn't say it'd really "count". It would be a very cool angle to explore though, it would help keep the previous generation of Pokemon fresh, and add a little bit of extra intrigue to the regions - and even the breeding aspect.

Haha, I remember Hexxus! That character scared the crap out of me as a kid. His tree is based on a real species of tree called the Boab , which I used for inspiration for that one big Exeggutor.

These are absolutely fascinating interpretations. I love how they all have very weighted stances- really gets that gigantic feeling across.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

manic-in-tricolour In reply to Skarita [2013-06-08 23:54:01 +0000 UTC]

Thanks a lot! It was interesting trying to give them stances at all, since you're working with a subject that doesn't really have any feet. Trying to juggle the balance and weight that the design is supposed to have can definitely put you through your paces.
