Description
Ever since I saw District 9 I always wondered what the prawn home planet would look like, so I decided to make my own.Planet 9 (as I call it) is an exoplanet roughly three time the size of Earth but with almost the same mass do to the fact that it is mostly made up of Titanium. Planet 9 has an atmosphere rich with Iron and Oxygen and 60/40 percent water to land ratio respectably. Planet 9 has seven moons with the smallest being only slightly smaller than Earth's and the biggest being approximately the size of Mercury. Do to its many moon the planet suffers from very erratic tides and is not uncommon to get waves in exes of 530 m (1,738 ft) (surf's up). It also suffers from erratic weather do to the large percentage of Variable Components in the atmosphere that control the weather.
Specs:
Diameter 39,000 Km
Gravity 9.809 m/s^2
Mass 6.3x10^24 Kg
Satellites 7
Surface Temperature:
Kelvin min 180 K mean 260 K max 340 K
Celsius min -91 C mean 15 C max 60 C
Atmosphere:
70.1% Iron (Fe)
23.5% Oxygen (O2)
0.02% Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
0.12% Argon (Ar)
0.8% Water Vapor (H2O)
0.0002% Neon, Helium, Krypton
5.0% Variable Components

WAIT HOW IS THAT MUCH OF THE ATMOSPHERE IRON VAPOUR. it would have to be thousands of degrees

Hm.. Pretty good!
Although, I wouldn't like a planet with 70% iron.

Impressive image! I like the idea of the multiple moons.

That is impressive How did you make that look so real?

hmm it might be me but i notice some contradictions in your story. Earths mass exists for a huge amout of iron, and titanium is way more heavy then iron. Even if the planet was as big as earth, it'll still be heavier. But since you said is was three times bigger, the planets wouldn't have the same mass by far. Another thing is that you said that the smallest planet was as big as earth and the biggest as big as mercury, but earth is bigger then mercury... and about the water, waves are caused by wind not by moons.
but beside those small thingies i like this work, it's great i especially like those red lights on the night side of the planet. sure a fav

Lol, yes I know, in one of the previous comets I admitted that it was all a bunch of BS

Thanks, you are off to a good start, simple yet interesting. One of the best advice I ever got was from Greg Martin [link] who told me not to get lost in technicalities but to make something that stimulated the emotions of the viewer.

Yes, everything was modeled and textured in Cinema 4d except for the sky (that was Photoshoped).

Excellent job but how can the atmosphere be 70% iron? What's the average temperature there that iron can exist as a gas?

To answer your question, It's not that Iron is a gas It's that their is so mush iron in the soil that due to the planets arid climate tons of dust particles fly into the atmosphere. When the iron particles mix with the oxygen it becomes iron oxide giving the atmosphere its distinctive reddish color. Also it mostly all BS so don't read into it too mush

Haha all right, I was just wondering what you had thought up for it. It's technically impossible the way you described it, but I don't mind
