This is kinda old XD... Done for a contest where we had to do a movie scene with anime characters. The movie is of course, Titanic. The scene is that pretty famous one of Jack and Rose standing at the ship's bow in that pose.Got the inspiration when I saw This picture of Cagalli , the pose reminds me of that famous scene from Titanic. Then I used a few reference pics for Athrun.
The background was referenced from photos I took during my vacation. I was gonna paint it at first, but decided to try vectoring clouds and waves and see what I get. I ended up liking it. I blurred it a bit to show distance. For the railing, I vectored from a screenshot from phase 17, it's the railing from the Minerva.

The color scheme is positively gorgeous! I love the transition between the blue and cream and tan. It gives it a very calming feel, yet the feeling asthough something is coming, a form of adventure, taking it as exciting or too dangerous to explore is up to the viewer.
The railing and water are amazing!! I think the clouds look better in your painting style, but your painting is amazing, so it's hard to compare to.
The colors you chose for Athrun's clothes correspond excellently with Cagalli's and are much better than the original colors! Athrun's hands look great, especially using just a reference pic for the position. Cagalli also looks lovely, but her body seems just a bit skinnier than she actually is, but only slightly. I think you've created a new dieting technique! Something I believe you may have missed is that Cagalli has wristbands on both her arms, so it would probably be better to either take both of them off or leave both of them on, just to balance out the picture a bit more. 
I'm a fairly unexperienced vector artist though, so I don't know very much about vectoring yet.

She does? Her other hand was covered by Kira, so I dunno if she has it on her other wrist too (Mwu wears a wristband only on his left arm)... Lol yeah, the GSD style draws skinny ppl... believe it or not I made her less skinny than in the reference pic XD
Vectoring just takes practice and patience to get used to the pen tool, that's all there is to it

Yes, I could send you links of the images in which her wristbands are both visible if you would like. It is rather annoying when limbs are covered by objects or people in scans, isn't it. -.- At times, very skinny. They look like models! I see that now that I compare the two.
I don't have a tablet, but it also takes practise and patience to become skilled with the brush tool. I'm guessing it would take more patience to learn to use the pen tool well though. ^^

Actually I vector with the mouse + pentool even though I have a tablet. I just find it easier with mouse XD With brush and tablet, it's okay, but very hard to make lines clean since my hand is wobbly XD It's must cleaner with pentool ^^

It takes some getting used to I think, but once you're used to it, you get quicker and quicker ^^ But speed isn't everything, take your time
