Description My apologies - I know there is no one who wants to read all of this, but its the only place I have to put it at the moment. So, short version: map of one continent in my fantasy world, Aelia.

Long version? I mean. Dude. Long is an understatement.
_

In Aelia, there are three 'continents.' Anor is the largest, and is home to every member of the Hominid genera. [link]

There are four truly native species to Anor: Kythadra, Canthera, Flonia and Riol. Derkins, Sataris, and Dajun-Kai also originated in Anor, but the Dajun-Kai are extinct, the Satari gene pool has been nearly obliterated, and only the Derkins remain of those original three vaelsha species. They are still scattered throughout Anor, and though their numbers are sparse, they are generally the most powerful, politically.

Viak-Dair
[VEE - ack dah-EAR]

In legend, the kingdom of the Dajun-Kai. In recent history, overthrown by Karva, youngest son of Silreyal the Ancient, who governs there now and whose force is a constant pressure against the western countries of Anor. His influence is powerful and swift moving, and Viak-Diar now has dominion over much of Akarak Territories, and portions of Nilthia.

Viak-Dair is rumored to be ashen wasteland, but is in fact a perfectly viable ecosystem. There is a great deal of stone desert, comparable to the Bad Lands of the United States, but it is by no means a wasteland--except in the areas that war has decimated.

Capital: Veishard [vie - SHARD]

Akarak Territories
[ACK - ar - ack]

The native country of the Kythadran. Though the Kythadran are considered a primitive culture, they are skilled map makers, influential explorers, and politically more complex than they appear to outside cultures. Each territory is definitively drawn and often jealousy guarded. Each is considered a clan, with one governing patriarch. Some are at peace with each other; many are not. Those that border Viak-Diar are particularly war-ridden, and most are allied now with Karva. The east is not without grief, either, as an generational war is waged between the Kythadrad and the Tarakad on the borders of Fearsh and Murgonven. In recent history, the leaders of Kilikinak have tried to ease the tension and establish a truce, but that is difficult at best.

Akarak is similar to Viak-Diar, ecologically, at least on its western front. Moving east, grassland replaces desert, and moving south, conifer forests and swamps are prevalent.

Territories
Dak-Kahd [dock - ODD]
Geern [GAIRN]
Anardin [anne - ARE - deen]
Pinteern [pin - TAIRN]
Kin esh Kan [kin ESH kon]
Yad
Bindin [BEEN - deen]
Agardeel [AAG - are - dail]
Veekadit [vay - KAH - deet]
Hashar [hah - SHAR]
Nanah Dash [NAN - ah DAHSH]
Jintar [JEEN - tar]
Mordilkee [MORE - dill - kay]
Teedan [TAY - dan]
Kalmany [KAL - man - ee]
Shaniral [shan - EER - uhl]
Kavalkarnida [kav - all - kar - NEED - ah]
Indi Adarm [EEN - dee ah - DARM]
Kililinak [keel - EEK - een - ack]
Adarm [ah - DARM]

Jeroia
[jair - OH - ee - ah]

Despite being wedged between the three most violently warring nations in Anor, Jeroia is easily the most politically peaceful. With no army, no true defenses, and a very porous political structure, Jeroia is at the mercy of its neighbors. Nilthia has, for centuries, provided the primary military defense for its tiny neighbor. Jeroia is populated almost exclusively by Flonian, and is well known for scientific and literary accomplishments--especially in times of peace.

Jeroia is heavily forested in primarily deciduous growth with wide open grasslands. The mountain range that runs through the northern tip is high, cold, and boreal.

Capital: Nilwud : "u" is long

Nilthia
[NILL - thee - ah] : "th" is soft

Nilthia is populated almost exclusively by the Nilthiad species of hominid, who named the country they established after themselves when they arrived in Anor countless ages ago. Originally from Selzam-iiea, the Nilthiad faced extinction from warfare and poaching over their priceless skeletal protein, and so vast numbers of refugees fled the Golden Isles to Anor. Though such practices are not unheard of today, they are certainly rarer, and the Nilthiad are well established now as one of the premier military forces in Anor--and all of Aelia--as well as one of the most advanced cultures in Anor.

Nilthia is a rich green country, varying from high mountains in the north to endless plains in the south. Agriculture is prevalent, as are cities and villages. The Renewere forest begins in Nilthia, and is the heart of the most ancient Cantherad culture. They are not recognized as being under the Nilthiad government, unless they venture out of Renwere and into Nilthiad territory.

Capital: Jesscoll

Murgonven
[MURR - gone - ven]

Politically unsound, Murgonven is currently governed primarily by powerful derkin families and a system of 'police' called the aldokin, also derkins. Murgonven is populated by Kythadran, Cantheran, Humans and Kantaki, primarily, most of which tend to live in same-species villages and small towns. Larger cities are more varied, and also home to many derkins.

Murgonven is mostly savannah grass land with scrub forests and some sandy desert. It is hot, dry and harsh, and survival depends as heavily on hunting as agriculture.

Capital: Kushcuch [KOOSH - cook]

Fearsh
[FAIRSH]

Much of Fearsh' coastal region is populated by tribal Tarakan, where little over-arching regulation can be maintained. It is considered a lawless stretch of land, and myterious--the Tarakan do not welcome outsiders, and do not divulge much of their culture. Some of the coast line, especially near the captial, is claimed by cities of Humans and Derkins, and a smattering of all other species, and the inland is nearly devoid of Tarakan.

Inland Fearsh is fertile and verdant, and heavily agricultural. Coastal Fearsh, as the only non-tribal southern stretch of coast in Anor, has a monopoly on the export of oceanic trade, and is brimming with wealthy ports.

Capital: Avshiik [av - SHEEK]

Shanondale

Shanondale is not heavily populated. Mountain villages, lonely shepherds shacks, and here and there a larger city make up most of the infrastructure. With an economy dependent on livestock, Shanondale is considered 'old world' by much of Aelia--not Tribal, but archaic Human. Government is local leaders, mayoral in role, and a presiding monarch who is little more then nominal.

Moorland, high mountains, and fertile hills, Shanondale is a chilly, wet, high altitude country. The Renwere forest continues into Shanondale, and like in Nilthia, the Cantherad that exist within it are left primarily alone.

Capital: Abildin

Lothad
[LOW - thad]

Lothad is similar to Shanondale, but more structured, with larger cities and an economy relying on more than just a few exports. Their climate is a littler warmer, but still wet, allowing for an extensive growing season. Wine is Lothad's crowning achievement, and its vineyards are world-reknown. Derkins, Humans, Cantheran, and Riolian make up most of the population, and Lothad’s leader is more powerful than Shanondale’s, but heavily checked by smaller bodies of officials throughout the country.

Lowland mountains, temperate rainforest, warm summers and mild winters have made Lothad a rich, biodiverse country. Renwere's eastern edge is in Lothad.

Capital: Onderd [ON - daird]

Konera
[KON – er – ah]

One of the few countries in Anor with a true ‘king’ (the others are Nilthia and Viak-Dair). Konera has a mountain-valley history of political success, crashing down from generations of prosperity and peace into tumultuous civil wars. Their economy reflects that, sometimes booming, sometimes only scraping by. They are known as volatile neighbors, and have been known in the past to try to expand their borders.

Konera is mostly grassland, like Murgonven, except in the north were Lothad’s fertility is shared, and in the east where true desert begins on the border of Noria.

Capital: Kcofvet [ko – VET]

Hon

Hon is a peaceful country with a diplomatic ruling body of men and women who work constantly to keep peace with Ajiid, Noria and Konera, their temperamental neighbors. Pastoral and almost tropical, Hon relies on agriculture and livestock, and the prosperity of their culture has allowed them to become one of the most advanced societies in Anor. Their population is well mixed, though they are one of the largest concentrations of derkins in Anor.

Flatlands, temperate jungle, hot summers and mild winters. Hon has very little altitude, and parts of it are below sea level.

Capital: Ghoth [GOTH]

Ajiid
[ah – JEED]

Ajiid’s is the Tarakad country of Anor, and is populated by little else. Tarak are primarily tribal, and though Ajiid does have a few cities and towns, order is maintained by individual chieftains of individual tribes. Because the Tarakad are territorial, and prone to violence, Ajiid has a reputation as a blood filled wilderness—though the truth of the rumors is never verified, since few will venture past the borders for long.

Varying from pastureland to tropical coast on the southern regions of the island, Ajiid has rainforest, beach, and open rocky ground.

There is no capital city.

Yern
[YURN]

A frozen wilderness, Yern has no centralized government, but is populated exclusively by Northern Clan Kythadrad, who survive in isolated, nomadic groups. The southern edges of Yern sometimes see touches of seasonal change, and along these borders, the range of the Mountain Canthera extended at one time, but the north is left now to the virtually unknown culture of the Northern Kythadran.

Northern Yern is snow and ice, year round, though southern Yern has short periods of thaw. During the short lived spring, Yern explodes into color and life. The life does not vanish when the snows return, but it certainly becomes quieter.

There is no capital city.

Noria
[NOR – ee- ah]

Despite being enormous, Noria has the smallest population in Anor, per capita. Scattered and isolated from each other, Noria’s people are archaic, territorial, and buried deep in their inhospitable country, so most invisible to rest of the world. Some culture in Noria is nomadic, some stationary, but most are heavily traditional with a single individual as a leader. Those of the Suriaad Desert are well known for being out right antagonist against their neighbors, while further north, Noriad people tend more to being reclusive.

Southern Noria is sand desert with oases. Noria is such a long country, that Northern Noria is tundra, but none of it is particularly hospitable.

There is no capital city.

Anor Meilom
[ah – NOR may – LOM]

The literal “Sky Kingdom”, Anor Meilom (or Anor M.) is the country of the Ancients, and regarded as something quite unlike the rest of Anor. The border between Anor and Noria is a vast canyon called the “Cloud Sea” which, along with the blasted waste of Noria, is believed to be the result of Silreyal’s anger against her son, separating her kingdom from the rest of Anor. The population of Anor M. is derkin—the highest concentration of derkins in all of Aelia live in Anor. M. It is also the home of the Anorenrai, a body of nine leaders whose role in Aelia is somewhat mysterious, given that their power is phenomenal. Slated as guardians rather than governors, their role has been questioned in the past. The Tribunal is also housed in Anoruval, The City of the Dawn, when it is gathered. The Tribunal is a council of twenty seven, made up of sataris, derkins, and the Anorenrai whose role in Aelia—and Earth—is also left mostly up to speculation for the general populace.

Anor Meilom, in support of the theory that they are, to a degree, removed from the rest of Anor appears to be almost its own climate. The colors of the country are rich, and weirder. The sky gene (in animals) originates there, and there are legends and stories about a certain ambiguity to the structure of the earth there—that it is, in fact, partially made of sky rather than solid ground. There are moorlands, mountains, pasture land, and—further south—a kind of desert.

Capital: Anoruval [ah –NOR – oo – val]
Secondary Captial: Dal-Kurin [DAHL – KUR – in]

Might I ask how you made this map?

Photoshop. Uuuh, I just inked out the country shapes, colored each of them in on a different layer so I could lock them and do the fade colorations with soft brushes, and then typed in everything. I made the parchment background for a different project, and just robbed it for this. But it's done basically with a mess of soft edge and texture brushes on low opacity.

Hope that helped?
