Description I felt really kind of embarassed with not having a better map of the world of Aren than the old hastily produced sketch with Finnish names, so I decided to come up with something better. I used Gall stereographic projection, which naturally distorts the relative areas of land masses especially shrinking the equator, but it was easier to get the latitudes right this way. That means Erdasia is not only way bigger than I originally assumed but even bigger still. It's absolutely huge. More room for gryphomorps and Atal peoples I guess.

The map is still far from perfect, especially the eastern continents are probably completely out of whack and Tarasia may be too far North. Or not. It's all a big mess still, but at least it's better than before. Unfortunately I could not manage to fit many smaller locations on the map. If you'd like I could try making one with smaller but important regions numbered or something to that effect.

If you've spent any time looking at the old crappy map, you'll probably notice right away that there's one continent more on this one. Xipharasia is a continent that is known to exist but cannot be reached because of some kind of space-distorting field that prevents you from sailing straight towards it. If you tried hard enough, you'd simply end up sailing in a circle around it. The size and shape of this land mass is still largely uncertain, so you can consider it part fact part speculation at this point.

Great map! I didn't noticed at first but then i realized there is a certain resemblance to our own planet, as if geological eras had pushed the continents against each other, changing drastically the appearance of coastlines, but not enough to make them completely unrecognizable...Am i overthinking or does that means that Aren is actually Earth in a distant future (or past)??

When I wrote my first attempt at a bestiary of Aren, I threw in a little handwave saying that there are strange convergences between Aren and Earth, as if some unknown force was making them more like each other. It was originally just to explain the obvious fantasy trope of humans, wolves, horses, whales etc. evolving in a world with fantastic species, different geography and even different laws of nature. But then I started working it into the world in many different ways. So the continents are intentionally reminiscent of Earth, but Aren has never been and will never become Earth.
