Description
An old drawing I did of everyone's favorite skunk paramour.....decided to clean him up and splash some color on him. I like the way the linework came out although I still have a long way to go. I'm trying to bone up on cleaner, smoother lines and not be so hasty.Pepe is (c) Warner Brothers

Really nice, and very sweet- just in time for Valentines Day!
BTW, I enjoyed reading other comments on this piece (about inking from the wrist/shoulder/hip/etc... VERY helpful!)

that is why I love DA so much!
And you know what? I'm such a silly doof I didn't even think about it almost being V-Day. Yay for being appropriate without even knowing it ^ ^

looks like pepe to me... so A+, also it helps for line work when you scan it in work with photoshop on a high res, then shrink it down.

getting super clean lines is easy, just use long, strong strokes from your shoulder. it also helps if you have a strong construction sense.
the line work is pretty good, did you ink it with anything?
i love the chuck jonesy-ness of this, btw :]

Yay Chuck Jones! Yeah I love the way he does eyelids and lip-wrinkles. So juicy....
I'm working on overcoming my "draw from the wrist" insecurity. I was doing it for a long time before I realized I needed to draw from the shoulder...or at LEAST the elbow. Now I'm stuck in a force-of-habit groove.
And this is actually pencil, my all-time favorite medium. I couldn't find my new micron pens x.X

try inking with a brush. it will force you to use your whole arm AND maintain good control.
it will increase your pencil skills ten-fold i promise
