These are illustrations I was hired to do for Nickelodeon Magazine years ago for an issue devoted to Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events. The idea was to begin the issue with a ridiculously cheerful "Candyland-style" illustration then end the magazine with the exact same scene presented as if it had been ravaged and rendered desolate by the dark spirit of Lemony Snicket.It was a lot of fun to do-- I really miss Nickelodeon Magazine and the wonderful assignments they sent my way from time to time.

I used to read Nickelodeon magazine whenever I got the chance! I always wanted it whenever I saw the commercials but we couldn't afford it. I love that you worked for them! It makes both you AND the mag way cooler!

NO WAY!!!! you did that?! I LOVED the series as a child and collected all but three books. I was so STOKED to see that there was a movie of my favorite series coming out! I didn't read the Nick magazines, but I remember it being the opening scene to the movie. so cool to know that you did the magazine illustration.
