These are illustrations I was hired to do for Nickelodeon Magazine years ago for an issue devoted to Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events. The idea was to begin the issue with a ridiculously cheerful "Candyland-style" illustration then end the magazine with the exact same scene presented as if it had been ravaged and rendered desolate by the dark spirit of Lemony Snicket.It was a lot of fun to do-- I really miss Nickelodeon Magazine and the wonderful assignments they sent my way from time to time.

I miss Nickelodeon magazine too, I would go and try and find the issue that this was from, but I got rid of all of mine years ago, and that was before I knew you did illustrations for them, now I do and I am filled with regret.
