Description Mandelbulb 3D v1.9.0 ALPHA1

DEcombinate in Min mode using: SphereHeightMapIFS (x3)/_PolyFold-sym/ABoxPlatinum/Sierpinski3/_boxtiling/_reciprocalY3

A further Fractal exploration of my previous 'Tier' piece, based on the huge space habitat of the same name which featured in
some of SF author Iain M. Banks 's 'Culture' novels. Further details about this habitat can be found in my original 'Tier' description: markjaybee.deviantart.com/art/…

My thanks to James 'GrungeTV' Knowles for kindly allowing the use of his 'Quanadium Steel' image as a diffuse map.
See: grungetv.deviantart.com/art/Qu…

A larger version of this piece can be viewed, and prints ordered at: markjaybeefractal.com/tier-ii/

*Update 24/3/17: You can now view an interactive 360° panoramic version of 'Tier' on my sites at: markjaybeefractal.com/tier-pan… and: mjb-graphics.co.uk/tier-panora…    Enjoy!!

I love the culture imagery...there is so little of it around. Mr Banks is sorely missed.
Just reading the latest Neal Asher novel atm.. Soldier...the rise of the Jain.

Some nasty Jain ships or equally nasty jain anything would really suit the fractal style.

your culture ship design is very good...these look like GCU's

You Know, Mark!!! You chose a very good angle. From the bottom to the top. There is something huge going to the sky!!! Very fantastic work!!!

Thanks very much Yury! I'm thinking of doing a 360 interactive panoramic of the 'Tier' space,
hopefully I'll have something worth posting soon. Not here though, as dA doesn't support 360's.
Keep an eye on Facebook?

My version of MB3D (the last 189) don't allow to mix IFS formulas with other types....you have a special trick to combinate them ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MarkJayBee In reply to Godino [2015-09-03 14:06:03 +0000 UTC]

NP Alain; you just have to tell MB3D where to start its calculation. Do this by
selecting the formula tab containing the escapetime formula, using the small
tab selector at top right of the formulas panel. Hope this helps?

Love the sense of scale to this, and the airship-looking constructs floating around the 'space habitat'. It looks like a rather chaotic place, but I'm sure someone somewhere keeps track of it all!

MarkJayBee In reply to Sinspunkt [2015-08-05 21:44:58 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Sydney; believe me when I say that the actual creation of this place was
literally 'chaotic'! I'm lucky to still have most of my hair!!

It's interesting to hear about the process behind it. All we see are the finished pieces, and they look so effortlessly perfect! Of course, in reality, there's a lot of work that goes into creating that effect.

This looks at first like a wild combination of zepallins at a mooring mast and Minecraft.  Then you really notice the details and lighting.  Great stuff!
