Description
Mandelbulb 3D v1.8.9 www.deviantart.com/users/outgo…DEcombinate in 'min' mode using: SierpHilbert/_reciprocalX2/sphereIFS
Still furiously experimenting with Volumetric Light in M3D.
It took absolutely AGES to get that damn sphere into the shaft,
but I reckon it was worth the effort....

Thanks, glad you like it, and thanks for the invite/request!
Personally though, I wouldn't really class this as an 'abstract'?

it's not representative of anything recognizable, which makes it seem like an abstract piece, but if you disagree, i understand complete. you can just decline the request and invitation.

Oh no, don't get me wrong, but I do try to go for some
sense of 'realism' in my work, as opposed to creating
purely 'pattern' pictures.
I'm in the group anyway now, so you won't put me off that easily!!

I have no idea what it is or how you did it but it looks great!

Hehe! It's a 3D fractal image, so it can be anything you want it to be!
Thanks!

The sphere is nicely placed and the VL looks good

LoL, yeh getting a sphere where you want it can be a real pain in the keester. Maybe the best VL I've seen so far, this rivals the Volumetric Point Lights (Spots) of C4D, awesome job man.

Hehe, tell me about it Len - all that cutting and maneuvering, then the bloody thing just disappears for no apparent reason and you have to go frantically 'hunting' for it!
A Pos light is definitely the way to go for internal VL though, global just doesn't give the level of precise control needed.
Cheers mate!

LoL, yeah it's kinda like your B-Day and Christmas all rolled up in one when the sphere happens to be somewhere in the scene when ya first add it, a cause for Celebration.
Think I finally got a Grip on the VL thingie...man it can be a Slow Calc of the Lightmap

Alas, the sphere was nowhere near where I wanted it to be,
so loads of huntin' and shovin' to get it there!
You've most definitely got a serious grip of VL I reckon Len;
excellent image mate!
Yeah, the VL calc time can add a couple of hours to the final
render, if the quality is set fairly high-ish; this was +4.

Yeah, it's like Reflects and Transparency, Pick your spots where they will get the premium relults and then Sleep on the Render...so to speak

Yup, I totally agree. Hitting 'Calculate 3D' and then hitting
'The Hay' is the right way to go - it's just a matter of timing!
