Description
A reimagining of my earlier piece featuring the M5A1 Stuart, A client wanted to feature the tank in a winter scene.
Powered by two Cadillac V-8 engines, the M5A1 was fast and maneuverable. The tank was not heavily armed or armored so it was used primarily in the advance reconnaissance role. It was the final evolution of the M3 Stuart and served until the end of World War II even though its replacement, the M24 Chaffee tank, was being introduced. This print depicts the M5A1 in the markings of the 2nd Armored, 82nd Recon. Having served in Africa, Sicily and Europe the 2nd Armored saw extensive action throughout World War II. It is no wonder the unit was known as "Hell on Wheels".Β Prints are available through my website, www.markkarvon.net.

this tank is growing on me, i initially thought it was ugly, spoiled by the M41 and the M24, but it's pretty awesome the more i see it in reenactments and in history!

Gallant little warriors, surprisingly dangerous early on. Β Very good sense of humanizing the scene. Β There were some on Bataan... utterly forgotten, now.
