Bleh. I really hope I can finish the next comic page tomorrow. In the mean time, enjoy these Spengeborb doodles! I loved this show as I kid, you might have noticed that it greatly influenced my artstyle.
Can you guess which episodes these are from?

All of these drawings are based on different frames from different seasons ('Help Wanted' pilot, season 1, early season 2, late season 2, mid season 3 respectively).
Although the show is known for having lots of crazy expressions, I tried to draw Spongebob as on-model as possible:
I did this to get a better look at what exactly changed in the show's artstyle as the years went by.

Some notable features: more focus on perfect geometric shapes (eyes became perfect circles, he became more 'square', the wibbly-wobbly lines around him became less wibbly-wobbly etc.), the poses became more 'stiff', the style became more consistent, most curved lines (his upper lip for example) became straight lines, and many other small changes that greatly changed the show's overall style.

In case you're wondering, season 2 and 3 are my favorite, and no, I don't think the show is good anymore... I tried watching some episodes from the latest season, since it was rumored that the original writers had returned, but I couldn't see any improvements. Everyone's acting mean and out-of-character now.
