Tiger Tiger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

A marvelous pencil portrait of a tiger, Mark. Elegantly drawn. I love the way you have shaded his fur, and accented individual hairs. Wishing you, and your loved ones a
and a Happy New Year!

Tiger is just gorgeous!
One might ask, how do you achieve such a deep black background?

Thanks very much, the Steadtler Mars Lumo 8B if pressed really hard can give a near coloured pencil deep black, i went through two of them on this one and it was very messy. I tried again on my latest but i don't like the way it looks but my scanner likes it though

Thank you. I think you do everything perfect!
I do not have a scanner for large sizes. Background on the photographer gets uneven with glare. Have to use a picture editor.

You're welcome and thank you. I think a good A4 scanner is an invaluable piece of equipment to have, so easy to stitch larger pieces together, i was always told to photograph drawings on a bright but overcast day to cut down on glare and even out the light but it does take some skill and a level of understanding to take a good photograph ... something i sadly do not have. One thing's for sure though is that after all the hard work and love that goes into a piece of work it is a shame to not present it in the best way possible as long as it stays true tonally to the drawing. The background on the tiger is not as even as it may look because of the scan, if you lighten my piece or had it in front of you it would be very streaky indeed and look a little untidy, i'm still searching for the answers to improve the evenness of the larger areas of darks.
