Is this a portrait of Rock Hudson or Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson? Seriously, it's really good!

You have done extremely well doing this time consuming work as I know how I found it drawing Llanberis Pass!

Thanks, yes very time consuming but never tedious at all. Easy drawings bore me quickly and a drawing like this tests me daily which i really enjoy. Nice drawing by the way, reminds me of Dartmoor in the south west of the UK where i live ... Nice work.

Many thanks Mark! You are very similar to me as I find easy drawings very unchallengeing. I'd rather do fewer more difficult drawings rather than dozens of easy drawings.

That definitely shows in your drawing reference choices, love the work you put into your landscapes and your latest is fabulous by the way.

I would never draw something like this, to repetitive I don't have enough patience.
You did an awesome job

That's what i thought the experience would be but it actually turned out very differently. Each stone had a unique character of it's own and was tackled a different way ... Very tricky but not repetative at all which did surprise me. Thanks

Thank you, i lost count to be honest but roughly double my usual as it was a learning from scratch exercise... Not used to drawing these types of drawings. 4 weeks work on and off.

Stunning! Absolutely stunning work, Mark. These rocks are so real looking I feel as though I can reach out and touch them. You are truly blessed with a gift God has given you, enabling you to draw like you do.

Hi Joyce, hope you are well. Thank you very much, i'm glad you like it. I'm half way through a second drawing of stones from the same reference shoot and i am enjoying the experience a lot because of the unique challenges that i am having to deal with. My portraits this year have not engaged with me as they once did ... I like to be pushed and desperately needed fresh challenges, these stones have given me that for sure ... And it gives me a great excuse to visit a beautiful part of the Cornish coast for references

Well may i wish you a belated happy birthday Joyce, i hope you had a perfect day and thank you once again for your kind words ... I do appreciate them a lot.
If you have the photo reference then I suppose the easieast way would be to upload the photo to your scraps folder here on DA and link it from there using the "copy and paste" option on the web address box at the head of the page from your uploaded reference photo, so copy from the scraps page and paste on your drawing page comments ... that sounds the easiest and quickest option and would give a worded link to the photo.
if you want to show the photo below your drawing then upload the reference photo to your scraps folder and then click on the "thumb" box to the right, this will make a small thumb "copy" ... Then go back to your drawing page and edit your upload comments by clicking once in your comments to "paste" a small thumb of the reference ... If i"ve described it correctly it should work.
If it's from a web page then link the web address at the top of the page using the "copy and paste" option, this would take the viewer to the web page where the photo is. I hope that helps.

Wow Mark! So cool, I can recognize those smooth stones . You give them soul and personality. Outstanding detail and smooth shading. I assume that draw those stones must have been almost a meditation process.
Thanks for sharing. Cheers mate!

Never before have I seen natural stones being depicted in a graphite pencil drawing so naturalistic it feels like a photograph, only even more life-like.
With carefully made textures and smooth shading, this deviation certainly creates an illusion of stones you feel could be touched, picked up, and maybe even thrown.
Fantastic work as always Mark!
