Description
With Sonic the Hedgehog featured in LEGO Dimensions and having his own minifigure as a result, I thought about other famous video game characters who deserve similar treatment. Along with a certain duo of brothers that I completed first, another blue platformer star was the next character I chose. Mega Man has finally arrived in minifigure form. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a reasonable way to create the Mega Buster arm cannon that he sometimes swaps out one of his hands for, but I will consider adding that in the future, assuming there are other minifigures with similar appendages. In addition, since my abilities with clay in custom minifigures has improved, I hope to update the helmet with more three-dimensional models rather than having them limited to being painted onto the helmet. In addition, I also hope to update the eyes on this minifigure, as it seems that the plain black dot eyes are more intended for more realistic-looking themes. Not so much for a cartoon design that has big eyes like Mega Man does. Background:
Mega Man, also known as Rockman, is the protagonist of the Capcom video game series of the same name. He, along with Ryu of the Street Fighter series, is widely considered to be one of Capcom's primary mascots. In most of his games, Mega Man is a combat robot who originally was a servant for Dr. Thomas Light, the man who created him. When Dr. Light's former colleague, Dr. Wily, began causing havoc with robots of all kinds, Dr. Light called on Mega Man to put a stop to Wily's schemes. Mega Man has also teamed up with several other characters, including a robot dog named Rush, his half-brother Protoman, and strangely, Dr. Wily's creation, Bass. Mega Man's amazing ability to gain attacks from any robot master that he defeats is the key to his success, and his abilities were so impressive that several successors were eventually made, including one by Dr. Light himself known simply as X. Mega Man is widely noted for being one of the best third-party characters for the 8-bit NES system, and as a result, Nintendo acknowledged this status by including him as a playable character in the most recent entry of their popular Super Smash Bros. series. Along with other characters from Capcom games, Mega Man has also appeared in two entries of the Marvel VS Capcom series.
