Description

Egypt, 1937.

Dakota Smith, world-renowned archeologist, was on the trail of a mythological artifact – an artifact which, if confirmed to be real, would have mind-boggling implications for human history. Recovering said artifact would pit Dakota against the perils of Egypt’s Great Sand Sea, hostile locals, and possibly even Nazi agents who were in pursuit of the same objective.

In other words, just another day on the job for her.

The bright boys at U.S. Army Intelligence had recruited Dakota to recover the artifact after intercepted German diplomatic communiques alerted them to the fact that the Nazis were already hunting for it. Dakota had helped the U.S. government recover several other ancient relics, so they were confident in her ability to retrieve this one for the good ‘ol U.S. of A.

The artifact in question was the sword of the legendary Greek hero Perseus.

According to mythology, the Greek god Zeus gave the sword to Perseus along with several other divine relics. The Nazis didn’t give a hoot about the sword’s historical relevance. No, they were interested in what the sword was allegedly made of; a mysterious alloy called Adamantine, which was supposed to be as hard as diamond yet as light and flexible as steel.

If the Nazis had a chance to analyze the metal and duplicate the formula, it might make their tanks and airplanes virtually invulnerable…

“Fancy meeting you here, Dr. Smith.”

Dakota knew that supercilious French accent all too well.
